Upper Deck's Extended Series is shaping up to be a huge release for the hockey market. Debut Patches will make their product debut this year in hockey products.

So right in the thick of the conference finals right now.
Brought back some memories for me.
At the time we're recording, which by the way, we are recording on May 22nd.
Friday, May 22nd, 2026. when the Eastern Conference Finals get underway, brings back some memories for me.
If you're a first-time listener, I always throw this out there because we hope that we have first-time listeners all the time.
My day job, I'm the radio broadcaster for the Florida Panthers, so whenever the Eastern Conference Final comes around, game one, that Montreal game one win in Raleigh was last night.
Whenever game one comes around, I think back to game one of the 2023 conference final, the Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes.
I remember getting to the arena that day for a hit on NHL Network about 3:00 in the afternoon, and the game ended up going into a fourth overtime.
And Matthew Tkachuk scored that game-winner with just under 13 seconds to go in the fourth overtime period.
Felt for a moment like we were gonna be ticketed for a fifth overtime.
It was the sixth-longest game in the history of the league, the longest game in the history of the Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes, and, well, the longest game that I've personally ever broadcast.
And I'll never forget that, the buses back to the hotel that night after game one were at 2:35 and 2:55 Eastern Time AM.
That one went into the wee hours.
But, it's just one of the many reasons we love playoff hockey.
And whenever the Eastern Conference Final comes around, I can't help but think about that moment, and of course, it featured one of many great Matthew Tkachuk playoff moments that we've had a chance to see over the years.
Folks, the Card Ladder Index looking good on the hockey side once again.
The hockey segment up 1.33% in the last week.
That's more than basketball, more than football, more than soccer over the course of the last week.
The Card Ladder Index always like to look at a big-picture timeframe.
Year to date, 2026 year to date.
So if you can believe it, we're coming up on halfway through 2026.
Time is just flying by as we record this on May the 22nd.
The hockey index, like a lot of the hobby, it's up and it's up nicely.
10.72% the hockey index is up on Card Ladder, and most of the sales data Who am I kidding?
All the sales data you're getting right here is gonna be from our friends at Card Ladder.
But, again, the index looking great on the hockey side, looking great across the hobby, and hopefully that has meant some good things for your hockey collection and just your overall sports and overall trading card collections, folks.
and again, just a great time to be in the hobby and a great time to be following hockey as well.
And whether you're a diehard hockey collector or you're just dipping your toe in the pool that is the hockey segment of the sports card hobby, exciting news on the way.
Upper Deck Extended series, June 3rd.
And we'll talk about some of the other releases coming out here shortly.
But June 3rd, Extended series is going to be coming out.
You remember back in the early part of the calendar year, I think it was back in January when it was announced, that the NHL debut game jersey cards would be featured in Extended series.
Well, the checklist is out, so not only do we know what the Young Gun checklist is gonna be like in Extended series, but we know who has an NHL debut game jersey card.
And you could say nine of the top rookies, the top chases, nine of the topGuys who've had rookie cards in this year's products are featured in that set, and these are gonna be, like I said, unique pieces of hockey history in a sense.
I've often gone back to a topic that, like I said, we, here in Florida, we're fortunate to be able to, hear Paul Maurice articulate the game quite a bit, and talk to him a lot, about just the game day to day obviously.
And one of the great coaches in the history of the sport, what he has said about NHL debuts, and he's not talking about hockey cards, he's talking about it from a strictly hockey perspective, but you can kinda draw a parallel.
You can kind of equate it to the card world.
He's mentioned before, you can win 10 Hart Trophies, you can win 10 Stanley Cups, but you only get one first game, and that's what makes these cards so special.
And you're looking at a checklist that features nine guys who are among the top rookie chases in this year's products.
And if these guys go on to have the kind of careers that we think they could, then these are cards that are gonna have true pieces of history on them, something truly unique, and collectors are gonna be able to chase different tiers of them as well.
We'll get to that here in just a moment.
You, of course, have the, the base versions.
You've also got, the auto versions numbered to the jersey number of each player.
Michael Misa signed 76 of those, because he wears number 76, so he would be the most plentiful as far as those are concerned.
The rarest would be the Sam Dickinson, which will be numbered to six.
And then you've got the one of one version as well that has a special tag, on the, on the card.
But those are gonna be tougher to pull.
The base versions, according to the checklist from Upper Deck here, 1 in 1,296 hobby packs, 1 in 1,296 packs on e-pack, 1 in 1,440 packs in the blaster format, as well as the hanger format.
So they're gonna be, tough to pull, but no doubt it's gonna be an entertaining and a fun chase for hockey collectors, and just for, for people who like the chase in a product.
There's gonna be, certainly The chase will be on coming up, beginning on June 3rd.
And I've mentioned it before, but can't wait to see at the National when we have these cards out, when we have 'em out in showcases, when we see people pulling them, we get a look at them in person.
Can't wait to see some of these, hopefully in, less than a couple of months, or about a couple of months' time when, the whole card world converges on Rosemont, Illinois once again for the National.
Who has an NHL debut game jersey card?
And for those of you who plan to dive into breaks with this product, this is gonna be important to know.
Brady Martin of the Nashville Predators, first-rounder.
Beckett Seneca, finalist for the Calder Trophy this year.
Daniil Bute of the Utah Mammoth, first-rounder.
Daniil Yurov, who had a good year in Minnesota.
Easton Cowan of the Leafs, Isaac Howard of Edmonton, Michael Misa of the Sharks, Matthew Schaefer, of course, and Sam Dickinson.
Those are the players you'll see featured with NHL debut game jersey cards.
You know the Schaefer is going to be a massive chase.
And should that one of one get pulled, that'll be interesting to see if that gets pulled, if it goes to market, what something like that would go for, on the secondary market.
So we'll just have to wait and see, but that's gonna be exciting.
Mentioning Matthew Schaefer, he'll have a Canvas Young Gun in a Extended series that you can chase as well.
The regular set numbered 501 to 700, the Young Guns 701 to 750.
We'll get to the, the Young Guns list here in just a moment, 'cause I wanna spend a little bit more time on that.
Actually, let's just keep things going with Extended series.
We'll get right to that Young Guns list, and then we'll get to the, the big Gretzky sale.
The Extended series Young Guns checklist, I wrote down some notables.
Beckett Seneca is going to be the driver as far as that's concerned.
Seneca, finalist for the Calder Trophy.
We've been waiting for the Beckett Seneca Young Gun, had a really nice rookie season for Anaheim.
No doubt that's gonna be a big one for collectors.
Thought this was cool.
Zeev Buym has a Young Gun in Extended series as well.
You remember, he was in series two as a member of his original team, the Minnesota Wild.
Back in December, he was a key component in the Quinn Hughes trade, went to the Vancouver Canucks, so he's gonna have a Vancouver Young Gun in, Extended series.
Some other chases, I mentioned Daniil Bute.
He's got one of the debut game jersey cards.
6'5" winger of the Utah Mammoth, 12th overall back in 2023.
Had a really nice campaign in the American Hockey League this year.
That is going to be one to chase, so you might wanna jot down Utah as a team to remember when it gets to, maybe if you find yourself diving into a break in this product.
Sergei Morosov, goaltender for Pittsburgh, that one really interests me quite a bit.
Had a great season in the AHL.
He was a fourth-rounder back in 2022. and there's gonna be opportunity as far as Pittsburgh's goaltending situation's concerned.
So that is one that I certainly would be interested in.
Otto Stenberg, first-rounder, the Blues back in 2023.
He's a center, played 32 games in the league this year.
Maybe a little bit under the radar, but, a first-rounder.
I would be looking at him.
I would be looking at the Blues when it comes to this product's release.
Berkly Catton of Seattle, eighth overall in 2024.
He's gonna be a chase.
Tom Vilander from Vancouver, the 11th overall pick back in 2023.
Played 70 games in Vancouver this year.
obviously Vancouver didn't have a, a great season, so might have been easy to miss Tom Vilander this year, but had some quality time, and figures to be a part of Vancouver's transition.
He'll be a guy to keep an eye on.
Denver Barkey of Philadelphia, third-rounder in 2023, turned 21 recently, so really young guy still.
Played 43 games for the Flyers this year.Jacob Fowler is gonna be a chase.
He's a Montreal Canadian.
He's been backing up during the playoffs this year.
He'll be one of the biggest chases, young goaltender, no doubt about that.
mentioning another goaltender, Artur Akhtyamov of Toronto.
Now, he's not as young.
He's gonna be 25 in October, but, he's a goalie.
He's twen- gonna be 25, maybe closer to being a, a finished product.
Played three games in the NHL this year.
Didn't get his first win yet, but, after a couple of years with the Toronto Marlies, we'll see what the future holds for him.
Nick Laris of the Blackhawks, 10 goals this season for Chicago as a 20-year-old, so that was an impressive year.
And Igor Chernyshov of San Jose, second rounder 2024, 19 points in 28 games for the Sharks this year.
If he ends up skating alongside Macklin Celebrini for any period of time in the future, that could be good for him, so he is a name to keep an eye on.
I know that was quick.
I knew I threw a lot at you, but, those are some of the names that jumped off the page at me from the extended series Young Gun checklist as you kind of start to plan for how you are going to approach Upper Deck Extended Series, which again is out on June 3rd, right around the corner.
More on the new releases here shortly.
Huge Gretzky sale, last night at the time of our recording on the Fanatics Collect auction platform, a Wayne Gretzky O-Pee-Chee rookie card, the 79-80, in a PSA 9 with a 10-grade autograph, sold for $540,000.
to kind of put it in perspective, on March 7th, I look back, Golden had a PSA 9 non-auto sale of that card.
Now, this was the highest graded example of the O-Pee-Chee with the autograph, a PSA 9 with a 10 autograph grade.
There was just a regular PSA 9 of the O-Pee-Chee.
Now, those are super tough to get in a high grade.
$115,900 on that sale from Golden back on March 7th.
That was for a non-autograph.
So to have the, the card, the signature, the 10-grade autograph, the authentication all in one spot like that, $540,000, one of the biggest hockey card sales of all time.
believe it puts it at number three all time, and, the highest graded autograph sale, I believe.
So we'll see how things shake out there.
But, we'll have, have some more on that in the coming weeks, I'm sure, because this is gonna be This was a big sale, no doubt about it.
We were keeping an eye on it as, it was coming to a close, the auction, that is.
And just, one of the biggest hockey card sales that we have seen.
So that was certainly exciting.
Talking about new releases, extended series on the horizon, O-Pee-Chee Platinum, it's out at the time we're recording.
It's been out for a couple of days.
The biggest sale at this moment per card ladder for a card out of O-Pee-Chee Platinum, the Beckett Seneca Emerald Surge numbered eight of 10, $541.57 on that card.
So product's only been out for a few days.
That's a big early sale.
Beckett Seneca's Young Gun, no doubt about it, and all the variations of it gonna be big chases in extended series.
So O-Pee-Chee Platinum, always exciting.
Upcoming Upper Deck releases, you've got, on the way DC Annual at the time of our recording.
That's gonna Or at the time of our, of the episode dropping, that's gonna be out tomorrow.
Extended Series, talked a lot about that, June 3rd.
Upper Deck AHL is gonna be out June 3rd.
Fleer Ultra Golf is gonna be out June 3rd.
Busy day from the folks at Upper Deck, giving us a lot of product on June 3rd.

Team Canada Hockey, that's coming out on 6/17, June 17th you can find that one.
And, Parkhurst will be out on June 24th.

That's a pro- Don't sleep on Parkhurst.
That's a fun one.
It's got a lot of different short print variations, great set builder product, always a really clean design, a lot to look for in, in Parkhurst.
So that's gonna be out on June 24th.
keeping an eye on that, no doubt about it.
The TV ratings successes continue.
From NHL PR, we have this one.
The most-watched rounds one and two on record in North America averaged 3.3 million viewers across North America.
The game seven, at the time of our recording, that would've been Monday.
At the time the episode drops, would've been two Mondays ago.
That Montreal-Buffalo game seven averaged 8 million viewers in North America, most-watched game of the playoffs to date.
In the United States, it was the highest-rated round two and, the most-viewed second round for ESPN and TNT under the current TV rights deals.
Average US viewership through the playoffs has been 1.4 million, up 63% year over year.
So we talked about it.
Really from the outset of the playoffs, we've seen a lot of these TV ratings success stories, and I think these are, these are things that we can kind of tie in and connect to the hobby.
More eyeballs on the National Hockey League, without a doubt, is good for the sports card hobby, good for the hockey card segment.
And you gotta think, I know the We talk about the young talent being in such a great place in the league, and the skill level collectively, and teams in 32 different locations across the league now, and, and the Stanley Cup playoffs being the best really in sports as far as any postseason is concerned, if you ask me.
But there's no doubt that Team USA winning the gold medalHad something to do, a positive effect with the boost in especially the US TV ratings here as we've gone further into the spring.
We noticed it in the sports card hobby right away, and that has continued to be pretty consistent ever since.
But, really exciting stuff as far as the TV ratings are concerned.
Always love seeing that, more eyeballs on the sport.
And like I said, hopefully directly or indirectly, that leads to more people sampling National Hockey League action, in some way, whether it's on TV, getting out to a game, what have you.
Speaking of playoff hockey, the PWHL Walter Cup Final, Montreal won the championship, the Victoire.
Marie-Philip Poulin was the playoff MVP.
She had eight points in the playoffs.
Now, that did immediately boost her card prices.
Marie-Philip Poulin, her young gun, number 65 from the twenty twenty-four Upper Deck PWHL First Edition, at the time of our recording would have been two days ago, a PSA nine, one hundred and eighty-one dollars and ninety-four cents.
Back on May twentieth, a raw copy of that card, hundred and twenty-four dollars and ninety-nine cents.
So some big movement for one of the big stars, biggest star in the playoffs in the PWHL.
Can't say it enough, I've ripped a couple of boxes of Upper Deck PWHL, and it just feels like you get a lot of hits in that product.
It is a fun rip.
And, I believe at the time we're doing this, if they don't have it at your hobby shop locally, jump on Upper Deck ePack and you can, rip the packs right there from the comfort of your own home.
So something to check out.
And that product, like I said, that product's pretty, pretty fun to rip.
I've, I've experienced it firsthand, found some pretty cool stuff with, Upper Deck PWHL, each of the first two versions of the set.
So that's always fun to keep an eye on.
And, congratulations to Montreal for, winning the championship there.

Chris is an Islanders fan up in, up in the Long Island region.
And, well, he says or he asks, says he'd love to hear more about being a vendor and setting up at a card show.
says for people just starting out, he, he asked about showcase recommendations, also asked about how to set up value boxes and, and any other recommendations.
So had a few things to send your way.
And I should preface it with, for everybody out there, I am not somebody who does this every weekend.
I set up at a couple of shows recently.
last summer, I think I did one.
The summer before that, maybe two.
got some good shows down here locally in South Florida that, that I like to set up at when I have the opportunity.
So it's not something I do every day, but at one point in time not that long ago, I was doing it for the first time, and it's something that Like I said, I'm not doing it every week, so every time I get out to a card show, I'm kinda doing some trial and error, and I'm tinker- tinkering with my, my setup a little bit, and, and I'm learning on the fly as well.
But I've learned some things in a short period of time that I feel like, you know, could be good little nuggets to, to send out your way.
Now, I should say this too.
Every card show in America, because of the locale, because of the venue, because of the collector base in the area, what have you, every show is gonna kinda have its own identity, gonna have its own characteristics, gonna have different things that sell better than others.
So that's always worth keeping in mind.
You have to know the show a little bit.
And that's why I always say if you, if you are gonna set up at a card show and you know which one you're gonna set up at, if you have the opportunity, maybe the month before, or maybe it's one that's regularly in your area, get out there, walk the show.
just see, see how things go, see how it's set up.
Just get a feel for it before you actually set up as a dealer at, at a card show.
But just going through it, some things that come to mind here.
asked about showcase recommendations.
This was something I asked a friend of mine about, when I was first starting to set up.
on eBay, there's a, a showcase.
It's actually almost like a bulletin board that you would hang on a wall.
but it serves as a great showcase, and it's, it's called VizPro, and I have one of those.
It works great.
I know Zion makes some really nice ones.
Those are really cool.
I get Facebook, ads for them from time to time.
Those look really nice.
There are a lot of different options out there.
And as we've seen the hobby really start to boom, it feels like the options have become even more plentiful.
I know I've seen things posted online too, people finding pretty good items at whether it be places like Hobby Lobby, things like that, you know, jersey frames that s- serve well as, as showcases.
There are a lot of different options out there, but, I did find one that worked pretty well for my purposes and it was, it was called VizPro, and they, they do sell them on eBay in different sizes.
also, Chris asked about value boxes and how to set up, how to set up the value boxes.
First thing, I think with your value boxes and with anything at your table, presentation is key.Make it as easy as possible for somebody to, first of all, look at your table and know kinda what you have, and secondly, make it easy for them to try to find something that, that they might like.
With that, I'd say, this sorta goes without saying, but at least categorize by sport.
You don't have to alphabetize your dollar boxes.
I used to try and do that until I realized that you'd spend so much time alphabetizing your singles boxes, and about a half an hour into the show, that system of alphabetizing would just go entirely out the window.
So I think as long as you have it sorted by sport, I think you're, you're okay there.
Also, just make sure, this is just a, a preference and a tip from me, because I know that I prefer it when I'm walking around at shows.
Price, price your cards, and then in the back of your mind, kinda know how much wiggle room you would have on that card.
and make it easy for somebody thumbing through singles boxes to know how much the stack is gonna be if they find a bunch of stuff they like.
It's easy to, to make a bulk deal.
Usually what I do is anything in the dollar boxes is a buck, unless it's otherwise marked differently.
And if you buy more, it gets cheaper, plain and simple.
I would say anything that's in your dollar boxes, at least penny sleeve it.
If you get a great deal on top loaders or you get a bunch of old used top loaders, things like that, and you can top load them all, even better if you can make it cost effective for you.
But, and there are some great pl- if you buy in extreme quantity, you can get some good deals on top loaders.
But, if you can top load them, great.
At least penny sleeve your dollar box cards.
If you have loose singles, I wouldn't, unless you have a common box, or a dime box of sorts, I, I wouldn't, I wouldn't just leave them loose in a box without a sleeve.
especially because a lot of times if you're dealing with a 6 or an 8-foot table, and you've got a showcase, and you've got singles boxes, maybe you've got some wax, whatever the situation is, table space.
You gotta be strategic about how you use the real estate on your table.
I don't know that you're gonna wanna have, you know, a 10 cent card box out there.
What I usually have is a box behind the table, and if I see somebody is looking for something in particular, say they're looking for cards of a certain team, and I've got a lot of extra behind the table, I'll pull out a- another box from behind the table and, and let the person go through it that way.
Usually, that's kind of a, a box that I would have set aside for refilling, the single- singles boxes, things like that.
again, it all gets back to organization, like, a- and that goes with presentation, goes right along with that.
Know your prices.
know the comps on your cards.
Look through what you're gonna have out at your table before you, before you set up.
So that was kind of a long-winded response there, but it's a topic that I think can, hopefully be beneficial.
I, I've mentioned it before, but, up until a few years ago, I had done pretty much everything in this hobby at least once, except set up at a card show.
And it was really fun to get to do that.
And before I did it, I picked the brains of a, a handful of people to just get a feel for how I should go about it and what was most effective and, and things like that.
So, again, I would encourage anybody to get out there and do it.
If I had to say one thing that I would wanna get better at when I set up at a card show, and I, I don't set up enough.
And when I do set up at a show, my first objective is just moving things out.
Ideally, I-- And anything I sell, it just goes right back into the hobby for me.
So I wanna get as much stuff off that table as I can so that then it can allow me to go and get a couple of nice cards for the personal collection, something, something, to that effect.
you know, so it's, for me, when I go set up a show, I'm trying to move stuff as, as much as possible.
If there was something I would like to be better at, I would say I need to have a little bit more of a buying mindset because some things do come to your table every so often.
But I just get so, so, I guess you'd say I get tunnel vision for just trying to sell, sell, sell that maybe I am not, I need to be a little bit more open to things coming to the table to, to buy.
Because sometimes cards come across your table that could be, could be pretty good deals.
Be open to that as well, and, on that note, have some cash in your pocket if somebody walks up to you with a card that you didn't expect to see come your way.
On that note, make sure you have a lot of singles and a lot of small bills for change.
at card shows, from what I've noticed, you should be prepared to take multiple methods of payment, Zelle, Venmo, all that stuff, but, cash still is the bulk of the transactions.
So, you'll wanna make sure that you have small bills for change.
Make sure you have a, a good amount depending on what kinda, what kinda stuff you're gonna be selling.

At the time we're recording right now, sounds like Cale Makar's status for game two, sounds like he's not gonna play.
Mark Stone, I don't think they've actually said yet what's gonna happen with him.
so again, we'll There's a lot of wait and see.
A lot changes by the hour in the Stanley Cup playoffs, especially when you get deep into it like this.
So we're not gonna spend too much time on the individual games and the time sensitivity and, and those items like that.
But hobby three stars at the time of our recording, not telling you anything you don't know here, but we're gonna go through some names that are standing out for different reasons.
Folks, Mitch Marner, at recording time, 82 points in 83 career playoff games.
19 points in 13 games in these playoffs.
He's arguably been the best player in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Certainly producing points at an all world level.
And, don't look now, but if Vegas were to win the Stanley Cup, you have to think he would be maybe the top name or on the very short list of Conn Smythe contenders at this point.
His 1617 Upper Deck Young Gun, last BGS nine five at the time of our recording, $109.17.
Last PSA 10, $237 for Mitch Marner.
In comparison to some of his peers, actually felt like pretty good deals when I saw what those cards were going for, especially considering what he's been doing during this playoff run, and he's gonna be a golden knight for a long time.
And, expect that down the road he's gonna be playing in big games in the years to come as well.
So Mitch Marner leads off our hobby three stars.
A guy who is no stranger to this program, no stranger to the hobby three stars.
From Montreal, Ivan Demidov.
He was a rookie, a young gun in series one.
He's got rookies in all the 25, 26 products.
He was a finalist for the Calder Trophy.
In a lot of normal years, when you don't have an 18-year-old Matthew Schaefer in the mix, he would've been the Calder Trophy winner.
At recording, three goals in the playoffs, but starting to really heat up.
Scored in the game one Montreal win over Carolina.
Something I've noticed from watching Ivan Demidov, and I know this isn't what sells cards, but it's what shows you that this guy is going to continue to develop and shows you that this guy, the, the sky truly is the limit for Ivan Demidov.
He is more than just a willing defender.
He's a capable defender, and he makes the smart play so often, and he has himself in good positions on the ice.
And they're not afraid to match him up with, with, big guns over on the other side.
And, and again, you see him making the responsible plays so often.
When you have a young guy, a guy at his age, who is taking care of his own end, shows that he's got a really high hockey IQ, probably beyond his years, and, shows that he's got a, a heck of a future ahead of him.
You, you make those plays in your own end, you make those smart plays away from the puck, and the puck is gonna find you in good places.
And his offensive numbers are gonna benefit from that down the road.
So, Ivan Demidov, can't say enough about what we've seen from him as the playoffs have gone along.
And all his rookie stuff from this year, it's still coming out.
It's been a strong seller all year, and it's going to continue to be.
Last on our hobby three stars, Brent Burns of the Avalanche.
And I put him on the list, and he's been on our hobby three stars before, but the 41-year-old, the 20th overall pick back in that historic 2003 draft.
Had I been drafted, that would've been my draft, the 2003 draft.
Seeking his first Stanley Cup, and I think you could make the case, maybe it's Mitch Marner, maybe it's for different reasons Frederik Andersen, maybe it's Rod Brind'Amour behind the bench for Carolina, but you could make the case that a Stanley Cup would do the most for the legacy of Brent Burns than the legacy of any player remaining in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Brent Burns, I think he's a future Hall of Famer.
I think he's a lock.
But, a Stanley Cup ring would absolutely make him a lock for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
His 2003/2004 Upper Deck Young Gun number 221, last raw sale, 89 bucks for that.
So Brent Burns, certainly a guy that I know there are a lot of folks out there pulling for the Avalanche for that reason, because, they'd like to see Brent Burns get one before it's all said and done.
That being said, you watch him play, the guy's still a beast.
and he, he doesn't miss games, and he's incredibly durable, and he looks like a guy who's got another decade left in him.
So we'll just have to wait and see how things go for Brent Burns.
But those are your hobby three stars this week, Mitch Marner, Ivan Demidov, and Brent Burns.
Folks, if you haven't checked out the most recent edition of The Hobby Handbook, I had a chance to fill in over on The Hobby Handbook the last couple of episodes.
And in the episode that's up right now, I went through a stack of cards that I have going off for grading, going off to CGC.
And, you know, easy for me because with CGC I can Here in Fort Lauderdale, you can drop your cards off at the JSA office in Fort Lauderdale.
You can just hand-deliver them and, and they go off to CGC from there.
So super easy process.
I've done it a handful of times.
Can't say enough about how smooth that goes.
And, I've got some Got a, a couple of different submissions there as, as we speak.
But dropped off a submission at CGC on the most recent Hobby Handbook.
I went through it.
It was 10 cards, nine hockey, one baseball.
So we're gonna get to a cut from the most recent Hobby Handbook.
Here's the stack of cards I just dropped off for grading.
Whether you like hockey cards or not, that's not what this is about.
Just ripping through here, and I think I always like when I get other collectors' perspectives on grading, whether it's-why you're grading a card, what you're thinking about when you're grading a card.
If you're sending a card off for grading, if you think it's a, a s- a certain gem in your mind, or if you think there could be something that could hold it back, what are you looking for?
What's standing out with the cards that you're dropping off?
So I just got 10 here, 10 cards.
Most of them are, ultra-modern hockey cards, but we're gonna get through them here shortly.
There are- is a baseball card.
There is an old Gretzky in here.
Here's a Michael misa Young Gun from this year's Upper Deck Series 2, second pick in the draft last year, so I'd like to get this card back.
Had a nice finish to the season.
The Sharks are a team on the rise.
on the front, looks pretty well perfect.
There's a tiny bit of whiteness on one of the top corners on the back, but, I'm hoping it doesn't hold it back.
You notice the labels on these.
kudos to you if you can recognize these, these card savers I have.
I'm Hey, I'm recycling the card savers I get.
If you ever buy cards from Greg Morris Cards on eBay, one of the great places to buy vintage cards, you usually, or at least you used to, get them in these card savers.
Maybe you still do.
And there would be this fancy number on the back, and I just reuse the card savers for when I send stuff off for grading.
So a misa there.
Here's a '91 Bowman Wayne Gretzky that I'm sending off to grade.
Centering looks perfect.
Color looks great.
It's the Hat Tricks card.
Again, it's not a rare card, but I think it looks pretty darn well perfect here.
And if you could get a gem on that, a gem Gretzky's never a bad thing.
Here is a Shohei Ohtani Diamond Kings rookie.
And Diamond Kings, again, not the most desirable Shohei Ohtani rookie, but I found this raw at Dave & Adam's Card World in Manhattan back in March.
My day job, radio broadcaster for the Florida Panthers.
I travel everywhere with the team, and, we were in New York.
I popped over to the shop, found that.
If I didn't think it had a shot to gem, I wouldn't send it along.
I think it, I think it does.
Cole Caufield, 51 goals this season for Montreal.
Pulled this recently actually, and, it looks pretty clean.
Little bit maybe top right corner here.
Sometimes these Young Guns can be a little bit tricky, but, I think it looks really clean.
Again, 51 goals.
Montreal's still alive in the playoffs, and it's a card that I think has a, a chance to grow.
First of a few Matthew Schaefer cards.
This is the '94-'95 die-cut version.
It was in the bonus pack in the Walmart mega boxes from Series 2 Upper Deck this year, which you can find, by the way, on shelves at retailers still if, if you're lucky.
It's still out there.
But for a die-cut, there's one uncertainty, and it's on the back right here at this little curvature right here.
And, still not totally certain if it even, even is a defect, but these are tough to gem and, I just, like the idea of taking a shot at it.
Gavin McKenna, likely the top pick in the NHL draft.
This came out of 2024 Team Canada Juniors out of a blaster box, the rose gold foil parallel.
This one looks pretty well clean across the board and, again, expected to be the top pick in the draft.
Doesn't have, you know, many cards out right now, so chance to maybe gem one of those, something that, could be good to have as we get closer to what will be his rookie season in the NHL.
Couple of Matthew Schaefer insert cards out of Series 2 Upper Deck.
Not the Young Guns rookie card, but here's the Slaps insert.
Again, everywhere card looks pretty clean.
If I can gem a couple of Schaefer's, doesn't have to be the Young Gun, I think there's some value there.
When I was set up at card shows recently, he was asked about specifically, so had an unbelievable 18-year-old season.
Here's the UD Portraits Matthew Schaefer insert, so a chance to like I said, chance to maybe gem, some rookie year Matthew Schaefer stuff.
Down to the last two cards in the stack, couple of Montreal Canadiens.
Here is a Credentials out of 199 debut Ticket Access Lane Hutson rookie card.
that is number 75 of 199.
Looks really good.
I had to examine all the foil.
When you have cards with this much foil on them, you have to really look at the edges.
But think it looks very clean.
The corners look really sharp.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the back of the card.
So, again, that's guy that I think is gonna have a really, really bright future.
Already one of the top players, one of the top defensemen in the National Hockey League.
And one of the top rookies from this year's hockey products, Ivan Demidov of the Montreal Canadiens.
This one out of Flare.
These cards are thick.
Sometimes thick cards are a little bit tougher to get that perfect 10 grade on, but, I can't really find anything wrong with this Ivan Demidov rookie out of Flare, so we are going to throw that one in the stack.
That's the stack that I'm sending off for grading, like I said, at the time of our recording.
Hoping to get that dropped off tomorrow.
So that was from The Hobby Handbook, the most recent edition, and, again, mostly hockey cards.
You had the one Shohei Ohtani Diamond Kings rookie in there.
But, dropped those off, and they are off to grading right now.
So you know what that means.
At some point in time down the road, we will run through the results right here on Nonsense on Ice.
So some cards in there, some Ivan Demidov's.
we just talked about him.
had a cool Lane Hutson rookie in there, a Cole Caufield rookie.
Pretty, pretty heavy Montreal Canadiens, sub going off to CGC.
But again, we'll have all the, results on that as we get them down the road.
So, keep that in mind, and it'll be fun to do a little before and after on that on a later episode of Nonsense on Ice.

We are going to rip a box of SPX coming up here shortly, hobby box of SPX.
Normally, we don't open the full box on the show, butEight packs, three cards a pack, I think we can rip through that pretty quickly, and there's some cool stuff in there.

72/73 Topps number eight, O-Pee-Chee number 253.
You have this card, the Stanley Cup Trophy.
So this one is the O-Pee-Chee version, 72/73.
This is a card I bought at a card show when I was probably 10 years old, because I just thought it was cool, and I was just going through a singles box.
I still, still remember.
Got this one at a card show at the Southland Mall in Taylor, Michigan, if anybody knows the location.
But, it has every Stanley Cup winner on the back up to 71/72, and Bobby Orr and the Bruins winning that year.
But this is a cool one.
this one not mint by any means, but it's centered pretty nicely at least.
The Topps version, raw, 10 to 20 bucks.
The O-Pee-Chee version, 20 to 30 bucks.
Grab yourself one of these.
I just think this is a, a pretty classic card.
And with where we are in the playoffs right now, thought it was pretty appropriate to pull out this card.
Like I said, I think for, for any collector, it's, just a cool vintage card to pick up that is as recognizable as, any that you'll see.
And you get the most beautiful trophy in sports right there.
In all its glory back in 72/73 O-Pee-Chee and Topps.
So this is the, Stanley Cup Trophy card.
Love that one.
Like I said, love that card, and you can have it for a pretty low, manageable price.
