The Chicago Bears just got some brutal news with Coby Bryant's latest injury update. Bryant joined the Bears this offseason and was looking to make a big impact on the defense right away. However after injuring his knee earlier this week head coach Ben Johnson told the media today that Bryant will be out for the next 4-6 months.

Chicago Bears just got brutal news regarding starting safety, Cobie Bryant.
The initial reporting after suffering a knee injury last Monday is that Cobie Bryant would miss eight to 10 weeks with the injury.
Ben Johnson just confirmed that it's now four to six months after Cobie Bryant underwent surgery on Friday for that knee injury that, again, carted off the field last Friday during one-on-one drills.
A brutal loss for the Bears secondary that's gonna be not impossible, but a lot harder to replace now in 2026, 'cause four to six months is gonna knock Cobie Bryant out for the majority of the 2026 season, although the Bears are hoping he makes it back by the time the playoffs start later this season.
So what does this mean for the Bears in the meantime?
Well, first and foremost, Xavier Woods is your new starting safety for the 2026 season, at least the majority of the season, alongside first-round pick Dylan Feeneman.
Xavier Woods already was impressing in his first practice back on Sunday, where he really, you know, came into his own.
He came in Saturday, got, you know, really ramped up on Sunday, was with the first team defense, intercepted Caleb Williams on his first day on the job.
So he now is your starting safety alongside Dylan Feeneman.
The Bears brought him in because of his experience and what he brought to the table.
Hundred and twenty-one starts under his belt, has familiarity with Al Harris.
I have no, no issue with the signing of Xavier Woods, although there is a little bit of a scheme fit.
But still, him replacing Cobie Bryant, it's gonna be a major drop-off, but the Bears, I think they're still in a okay boat in all things considered with this injury.
It's a similar situation the Bears went through last year with Jalen Johnson, where they knew in training camp he was gonna miss extended time.
They had a veteran with experience under Al Harris in Naishon Wright to-- really wanted to prove himself as a starting caliber player.
Al Harris and Dennis Allen turned him into a Pro Bowl alternate last year.
And yeah, it's not the same level of play of Jalen Johnson and the caliber he would've brought to that defense when healthy, but they still were able to keep afloat at that position after a major injury because of Naishon Wright.
And I think that the Bears can do similar this year after losing Cobie Bryant with Xavier Woods.
It's not a perfect replacement, but it's serviceable for the time being until they get him back.
