'Cold War In Philly': Highly Popular Flyers-Soviets Documentary Available This Month
The 1976 epic showdown between the Philadelphia Flyers and Soviets was such a classic that a documentary about it is drawing sellout crowds and engaging Q&A sessions in the Philadelphia area.

Fifty years ago, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Russians met at the Spectrum in a game that would determine hockey superiority.
Was it in North America with the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, or was it in Europe with the Soviet Red Army?
Filmmaker Joe Amade has brought that long ago game back to life with a starring documentary called Cold War in Philly.
It has been playing to packed houses in the Philadelphia area, but I think people all across North America will enjoy it, not just people in the Philly area.
It will soon be available on streaming services around the world.
The film has some great footage, has some surprising revelations, and a lot of humorous parts from the recent interviews with the players from that game.
It also has some serious moments.
Flyers owner Ed Snyder, for instance, didn't just want the Flyers to win that game.
He wanted to use that game as a political statement.
Snyder thought that the Jews in Russia were being treated unfairly, and he wanted to focus on that, and he wanted an international audience to learn about that.
