Confusing Moves Lead To Harsh Final Offseason Grade For Angels
The Los Angeles Angels made a plethora of offseason moves, but they haven't been warmly received, thus resulting in a poor final grade.

And yeah, it's- that's- it's hard to see a Team USA team without him on the roster.
It's just, it doesn't feel right.
It's wei- it's, like, weird and ironic, a bittersweet, ironic way, that he's been such an advocate for being a part of the team for so long.
'Cause, like, there's been a lot of up and down on, like, which MLB players wanna participate.
And this past year, where we went to the finals and lost to Japan, like, him being there and, like, that team, I think, convinced a lot of guys to come play this year.
And now the, the American, Mike Trout, is not gonna be there with them.
Exactly, like, his last or last tournament, I remember he, like, he talked about the championship game between the United States and Japan- Yeah ... and Mike Trout walks out holding the American flag- Dude ... on his shoulder.
Like, I would have followed that man into battle.
Fire me up, son.
Um- Captain America.
He- exactly.
That this, the captain-- Mike Trout is Captain America.
That was, like, the battle, dude, him pulling up with the American flag and then Shohei walking out with the Japanese flag.
That's awesome.
Like, that is just a TV moment.
I am so- the World Baseball Classic, about a month from now, so I am really excited for that.
And in a little more local news for Anaheim, left-handed relief pitcher Brent Suter signs a one-year, $1.25 million deal with the Angels.
So not a needle mover, but bullpen personnel, left-handed bullpen personnel, never hurt anybody.
He's out there, I believe he's 35, 36.
He is.
He was solid for the Reds the past few years.
I know he's made a career in Milwaukee and I think Colorado.
But, I mean, again, not a needle-moving signing, but also a signing that doesn't make you worse.
This does move the needle.

This is gonna change the league.
This puts the Angels over the top?
The Angels are the best team in the league now.
They are.
They're be- they're the best team in LA.
The Brent Suter effect.
That And they're not in LA.
no, but, um- Well I mean, at least they're making some moves.
w- we talk about the Padres, who are making- No moves ... no moves.
So, I mean, at least the Angels are showing some initiative.
This is obviously not, like, a league-altering move, but it, it's, it's at least reassuring that they're willing to spend some form of money.
'Cause there are a lot of other teams out there just spending nothing.
Yeah, and one year, $1.25 million, regardless of who it is, regardless of who you're giving that money to, that is as low stakes a contract you can possibly give to someone.
