Cubs Playoff Rotation Is Forming
Dominant performances against Arizona reveal a formidable trio. Kevin Gausman, Clay Holmes, and Matthew Boyd emerge as the primary arms tasked with leading Chicago's high-stakes postseason charge.

What is up Cubs fans, and welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And the Chicago Cubs playoff rotation is forming.
While there were question marks a couple months ago about which Cubs pitcher would be that game one, game two, game three starter in a Wild Card series, it's becoming a lot more clear on which pitchers will get the ball on game one, game two, and game three.
And we got a glimpse of that this past series against the Arizona Diamondbacks as Kevin Gausman, Clay Holmes, and Matthew Boyd took the ball in that series, and all three pitchers have a great shot to start in the playoffs for the Chicago Cubs.
Gausman threw seven scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Holmes followed that up with seven shutout innings himself on Tuesday.
And Matthew Boyd gave up one run across six strong innings on Wednesday.
The front runner for those three spots in the rotation in the Wild Card series definitely goes to these three pitchers.
Gausman obviously acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays at the deadline.
Kind of been up and down so far in his Cubs tenure to date.
Two really good starts, two poor starts, but Gausman, when he's at the top of his game and his splitter is working, Gausman is a really good top pitcher in the league.
Holmes has been a great addition for the Cubs, probably the Cubs' best trade deadline acquisition.
After struggling in his first start, which was his first start in close to three months, Holmes has looked really good on the mound in each of his last three outings.
Obviously, his most recent start throwing seven shutout innings against the Diamondbacks.
And then there's Boyd, who's kinda been up and down this season.
Didn't start the year great.
Had a really good stretch in June/July.
August has kinda been back to up and down.
But when Boyd is on top of his game, he's really good, and we saw here on Wednesday just how good Boyd is when he is at the top of his game.
So right now, Holmes is probably the game one starter for the Cubs, but right behind him are Matthew Boyd and Kevin Gausman.
Those three give the Cubs the best shot to win in a Wild Card series against whichever team it is.
Could be the Phillies, could be the Diamondbacks.
