David Stearns on state of Mets' rotation, failing to meet expectations
Mets President of Baseball Operations David Stearns spoke with the media at Citi Field on Tuesday as he addressed the calamitous state of the Mets' starting rotation, and where their expectations are falling short.

We've, we've been inconsistent at various times, around all segments of our team, which is why we have the record we have right now.
From a starting per- pitching perspective, I, I, i- injury is part of it.
That is, that is real.
We also haven't gotten the level of consistent performances from most of our rotation that, that we expected and that our players expected coming into the season.
I think each of our starters would say that there's another level of performance in there, and it's our job as an organization to do everything we can to try to get the best versions of each of those players out.
I- in terms of our rotation, it's, it's a turn-by-turn evaluation.
and we do need to see production there.
We need to figure out a way to get ourselves later into games in competitive positions.
And so it is, I'd call it a turn-by-turn evaluation of where we're gonna go start to start.
And, and I think you'd be fair to point that out similarly last year when, when we had struggles.
it is absolutely something we're talking about internally.
we've, we've gotta more consistently, throw strikes.
I don't necessarily think it's systemic if we look at whether it's our starters at the Major League level, our starters at the minor league level, we're getting to walks in slightly different ways.
Some guys are getting ahead, having a tough time putting guys away.
some guys are not getting ahead.
Some guys, we get to 3-2 pitches, we get to 3-2 counts, and we're out of the zone too much on 3-2. but I think it's a very fair critique that, we gotta throw more strikes
