Detroit Lions Offensive Struggles Post Ben Johnson
The Detroit Lions grapple with offensive woes and staffing challenges following OC Ben Johnson's exit last year, as they welcome in another new coordinator.

But it's Ben Johnson's former team that he was the OC at, the Detroit Lions, that once he left, they have been struggling to find any sort of consistency with Jared Goff and company.
And now it's, it's Petzing, I think, the guy from Arizona is now another new offensive coordinator.
I think the offensive line is worse.
They got their center that was supposed to, you know, be the, the guy that was gonna anchor everything.
He got injured.
No more David Montgomery this year.
Call me crazy, I think Detroit's offense, they're gonna have to figure out other ways to do it.
Maybe that defense, takes a step up because I'm not sold on the offense here with Detroit.
For Detroit, what we know, the one thing that I continue to look out for them would be the sa- the secondary play for them.
And that's one of the things that I, I think is gonna determine a lot because, you know, they have some decent safeties back there.
The cornerbacks are really the issue, as it has been for a couple of seasons, and that's gonna determine a lot of what the Detroit Lions do and/or are forced to do.
Because if they are forced to get into higher scoring games, I think they're, the, the yards and the scoring for the, the Lions will naturally come just because it has to.
Is that the ideal way that Dan Campbell wants to do things?
Probably not.
We know that they brought in Isaiah Pacheco in the off-season, and there were some reports that, Kareem Hunt today actually, was visiting with the Lions, because Pacheco's been banged up.
So if they have to refill the David Montgomery role and Pacheco is not able to be, you know, healthy to start the season, bringing in a bigger back like Kareem Hunt does make a little bit of success does make a little bit of sense, and actually could point to what they want to do and have success on offense, would be running the ball just a bit more.
So I am hesitant on the Lions.
I think their ceiling is potentially very high, but that means a lot of things do have to go right for them.
A ton of things have to go right for them, Tony.
That's the I, they dra- they weren't barely, I, I think maybe number 10 or number 11 in rushing the ball.
You just gave a boatload of money to one of the most dynamic running backs in the league, but he was dynamic and a great one-two punch with David Montgomery.
And now all of a sudden it's just gonna be him, right?
So if that's the case, defenses are gonna adjust.
I think if you have to worry about Jared Goff dropping back and throwing the ball more, that is going to be a big problem here.
