Did Boston Red Sox and Jarren Duran Reach a Breaking Point on Thursday Night?
Controversy has found the 29-year-old outfielder yet again.

Red Sox beat the Athletics five to four on Thursday night to win their seventh consecutive series, but I wanted to take a minute to talk about a moment caught by Nessun Cameras between Red Sox struggling left fielder Jarren Duran and All-Star first baseman Wilson Contreras.
Of course, it came in the top of the sixth inning when Duran flew out with runners on second and third and only one out.
As Duran was rounding first and heading back to the dugout, he appeared to be shouting out to Contreras at third base, upset that he didn't tag up on the play.
It's worth noting in this scenario that Contreras is obviously not the fastest player in the world.
He ranks in the 42nd percentile in sprint speed across all of baseball, while Athletics left fielder Tyler Soderstrom ranks in the 89th percentile in arm strength, and the ball only went two hundred and forty-five feet.
It was a pretty easy decision for Contreras to hold up there and not try to tag up and take the lead there.
But this is now becoming a recurring trend with Jarren Duran.
It started in 2022 in Kansas City when he misplayed two fly balls and then got into a back and forth shouting match with Royals fans.
It again continued, of course, in his infamous 2024 incident that caused him to be suspended for a game by the team, in which he shouted a homophobic slur at a fan at Fenway Park.
It continued last season in Cleveland when he got into a back and forth with a fan who allegedly made comments about his mental health.
And it's been a recurring theme this year in 2026, where, of course, starting in Minnesota, where Duran flipped off a fan, and then again, it's continued throughout here.
The Red Sox had to have some fans removed during a series with the Yankees, and now it's boiled over into an altercation between two teammates.
Not even to mention the alleged conversation that he had with a podcaster about something that was posted on Twitter regarding that incident in Minnesota.
This year, he's arguably been the team's worst player, and he's continued to create distractions.
