What, what do you do with him right now?
Like, can you keep him on this team?
Is he in the state of mind to be a contributor for this team?
Yeah, it's a great question, but you have to think about, you know, the alternatives.
They're not gonna probably go out and get a left fielder at the trade deadline with Roman Anthony finally ramping up.
He took swings this week.
That's a step in the right direction.
They expect him to be back now that that hurdle's cleared.
So what are you gonna do?
Play Jamai Jones every day?
Do you call up Christian Campbell because he's had a hot two weeks?
Do you send Duran down?
If you trade him, you're getting pennies on the dollar.
So, it's tough, and it's, you know, obvi- obviously this time of year it's decision time with the deadline just three days away, but there's no easy answer here.
It'll be interesting to see when the lineup comes out.
They're facing a righty in a bullpen game.
He'll probably be in it.
Obviously, he hasn't performed at the plate.
He's hitting 195, so it's not like this is a guy with 1,000 OPS and having these types of situations.
So the Red Sox do have to kinda grapple with his future in the coming weeks.
The idea of Anthony coming back makes that pathway clear for Duran to kinda be replaced or displaced, but until then, it's not like there's a ton of good options or alternatives.
I think the great legacy that he, you know, the number one thing that you should think of when it comes to him is that he has saved lives.
He has helped people.
He has been somebody that has gone out and been public with his struggle, and that's a fact.
The rest of it has been a rollercoaster ride here, for sure.
Very high highs on the field, very low lows.
I think when you see the comments that he's ashamed and feels like a failure, and obviously the mental health is not in a great spot right now based on those comments, I, I think it kind of loses the fact that he's a big leaguer.
He's made it to this point, and he was the All-Star Game MVP.
There is a lot to be proud of in the big picture, and with him it's, you know, the very high highs, very low lows, and that's how he handles things.
