The San Francisco 49ers have a 27 to nine lead entering the fourth quarter in their second preseason game.
This is the Sprint Right Option podcast.
I'm Andrew Pasquini, joined as always by Jason Aponte.
And Jason Aponte, a lot, a lot of things to talk about in the second preseason game against the Chargers, but the 49ers really want you to know Austin Pleasant's played left guard tonight.
Ooh.
Or attempted to.
I- this See, if, if there's a lot of good things to discuss, there's a lot of, a, a lot of surprising things to discuss, but the one thing that is still concerning is that nobody has a grasp on this job at all, and we're gonna go into the third preseason game not knowing who the left guard is.
God help us all, because they, they clearly It's, it's, they clearly want Carver Willis to win the job.
Which is fine, because they drafted him, and, and, and, you know, you wanna make a draft pick work.
But getting a longer look at Austin Pleasant at left guard doesn't signal to me that Carver Willis has his job, like, you know, li- like, lined up right now.
Yeah.
I, d- we're, like, we're at the propaganda portion of the position battle in the off-season.
Because, like, like, let me just go through some of my Like, I, I only subs- I only have a few tweet notifications.
I have it for just Nick Wagner and Matt Maiocco for the Niners.
And just some tweets.
"The three-man competition at left guard might be a four-man battle.
Austin Pleasant."
Austin Pleasant has been this, Austin Pleasant's that, Austin Pleasant, Austin Pleasant.
Like, these are just all tweets by Niners beat writers.
Austin Pleasant.
Tim Ryan really, really wanted to point out that Austin Pleasant is a d- he used the word dark horse for left guard position.
But then the really funny thing is, is he gave up the, the missed assignment that led to the Adrian Martinez, which, hey, welcome here, thank you for choosing us and we're watching Adrian Martinez play quarterback.
We appreciate the feature- Thank you for choosing yourse- a lot of you thank you for choosing yourself- Um- more than anything but, but when they showed the replay and it was pretty obvious that Austin Pleasant allowed a, a, a missed assignment to, to lead to that pis- pick six, the first thing that came out of Tim Ryan's mouth was, "Well, Austin Pleasant has never played left guard."
And it was just so I like, they, they just really wanted to hone in that Austin Pleasant is in the left guard conversation now.
