The Forty-Niners just got payback against the Chargers for that joint practice debacle a couple of days ago and dominated them 41-17 in a preseason game.
None of us will remember in a week.
But today, the big story once again was Dejon Stribling.
He was the big story last week against the Titans.
This week, once again, another great game.
This time.
4 catches for 46 yards and he did the same things well that he did last week and the same things poorly.
What he did well was he showed that he's a real possession receiver on 3rd down, just like Jauan Jennings.
You could put him in the slot, he can run that speed out, uh, route, and he can move the chains.
That's what Jauan Jennings did.
Purdy trusts him.
The other thing is, uh, he's not quite.
The blocker Jauan Jennings was yet.
Uh, he was billed as an excellent blocker.
He's now whiffed on 2 blocks in two preseason games, work in progress there, and then he dropped a deep pass in this game, caught one last week, it's perfectly thrown ball from Mac Jones.
So he's a work in progress.
He still is Jauan Jennings plus, has all that uh possession receiver chops.
He's a really big guy, really good hands, but he can get down the field.
He just needs to freaking block better.
Brock Purdy was really good.
It's nice to see that he has a rapport with Dejon Stribling.
He only played one.
One, drive and his incomplete passes were to Debo Samuel and Luke Farrell, two guys he really shouldn't be targeting during the season.
So, another positive update from Brock Purdy stock up for him.
Mac Jones had the two best throws of the night of any quarterback.
One, he ripped the ball over the middle that's dribbling between 3 defenders for 21 yards.
That was beautiful.
And then the deep throw to dribbling that he dropped.
That was really nice.
The 49ers have 2 starting caliber quarterbacks, maybe 3 in Curtis Rourke.
I really like Curtis Rourke.
He looked great last week.
Now Rourke and Jones have hit.
Uh, dribbling deep, scribbling caught only one of them.
I'd like to see Purdy get the ball to, to scribbling down the field.
I think he can.
That's gonna be a big part of the Niners' offense this year.
And then Kaylin Black looks really good.
The Niners can't run the ball to the right because Connor Colby is no good, but Carver Willis looks like he should be starting at left guard.
They could run the ball behind him in this game.
Jaden Duggar, I don't know, man.
He's gonna get targeted a lot this year.
He, he broke up a pass to Ronda Gatson but got beat and he was open, uh, up the seam, and then he gave up like an eleven-yard.
Curious to see what he does.
And then Reynardo Green left the game with a hamstring injury.
And, uh, was replaced by Jack Jones who broke up a couple of passes without even looking.
I don't trust Jack Jones at all.
I think Ephesians Priceo is better, but I guess that'll play out on its own.
But once again, the story is Dajonstribbling, he's gonna get the ball so much this year.
I think he's clearly established himself as the starter.
And then Jacob Cowing returned a punt for a kickoff.
Now the 49ers have a punt returner.
This was a really good preseason game for the 49ers.
Um, even Adrian Martinez did some good things, although he also threw a pick 6.
What a scout team quarterback.
Hopefully he never has to play.
