Dream favored to roll past Sparks

Drew Dinsick and Vaughn Dalzell break down whether the Dream can cover a sizable spread against a Sparks squad that's been eliminated from playoff contention.

Video Transcript

Well, Vaughn, as we wind down the WNBA season, we have, an interesting matchup on NBC and Peacock.

The, Atlanta Dream, nine-and-a-half point favorites on the road at the LA Sparks tonight in the WNBA, total sitting at 181 and a half.

Inter- this is interesting to me, because, the last time these two teams played, it was defense optional for the Sparks.

Yeah.

So they, they gave up 124 points to the Atlanta Dream.

The Dream are a team that can fill it up from three, and I kind of wanna go back to the well with their team total over here.

But, with the huge difference in, kind of, you know, what are these teams playing for, how do you handicap this one?

Yeah, I mean, normally we look at the situation, right, and say in a back-to-back or a situation where these teams play twice in the same week, we'd be looking at the team that lost the first game and back that second team against the spread.

It kinda feels like you don't wanna back the Sparks though whatsoever.

Like, this team is not trying to win.

The only game they won recently was the Connecticut Sun, in their last game.

The Sun, much like the Sparks, you know, not in contention, out of the playoffs.

The Dream just solidified a spot, but they can still continue to build on that spot.

So this kinda looks like an only Atlanta spot, you know, Atlanta Dream, position to be betting.

They jumped out to a 32 to 14 lead in the first quarter of their last meeting.

The first quarter team totals are 23 and a half and 20 and a half.

Yeah, I think the Dream probably get out to a quick start once again, put the Sparks away, and let their role players, get at them here in the fourth through.

So, I like the Dream in the first quarter score over 23 and a half.

Okay.

Sounds like you like the team total over too.

So we might just have a trifecta of points here for the Atlanta Dream.

Let's go.

I love it.

First quarter, first half, full game, team total over Dream.
