2026, the San Francisco 49ers had very few mandatory starting pieces hitting the open market, much to the contrast of 2025, where much of the firepower of the 49ers team did enter the open market.
The most notable personnel departure was probably Jauan Jennings, who parlayed a career high nine touchdowns last season into a lucrative eight million dollar contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
Beyond losing him, they didn't lose much.
The pristine retention allowed the forty-niners to execute widely praised in this off-season by getting back Dre Greenlaw, the linebacker, who's a fan favorite, and of course, the signing of All-Pro Mike Evans.
They also extended financial baselines with tackles Colton McKivitz and Trent Williams.
Let's look-- take a look at the twenty twenty-seven off-season market and evaluate five crucial forty-niners who are currently scheduled to be free agents.
Starting off with the quarterback, Mac Jones.

The eleven-time Pro Bowler recently clarified that he has zero pain and zero intention of setting a retirement timeline, meaning his twenty twenty-seven status will hinge entirely on how his physical baseline can withstand Shanahan's motions required pre-snap.
