Francisco Lindor, Mets react to costly error that caps off nightmare first-half of 2026 season
As the Mets were swept by the Red Sox with their 3-2 loss on Sunday to finish off a massively disappointing first-half of the season, interim manager Andy Green, Francisco Lindor , and Devin Williams spoke with the media to discuss Lindor's costly ninth inning error and how fans should feel about the team's performance in 2026.

Francisco had a great game.
Homer, double, drove in both our runs at that point in time, had defended the field really well.
Just a tough, tough inning for us.

I, I know who he is already, and he'll take ownership over that.
He has high expectations for himself, and, think we have confidence that ball goes back his way, that play is made going forward.
That's a tough one, tough one to swallow, especially when the blooper falls in after you pull the infield in.

In general, I think everybody understands what needs to happen going into the second half.
There's cleaner, better baseball for us to play.
We all bear a measure of responsibility for it.
And this organization, the fan base deserve better baseball.
Devin pitched very good.
We've pitched very good.
Zach did his thing very good.
And I, I wasn't able to capitalize on the good pitch that Devin made to finish the game.
Ultimately that's what it comes down to.
I didn't finish the play, and it's une- unacceptable not playing to the standard, that I have, not playing to the organization standards.
And it's just, I gotta get better.
It's unacceptable.
They shouldn't be happy where we at, and how we are playing, and how I'm, I'm playing.
Just encourages us to continue to fight.
At the end of the day, that's the only thing we can do, and we're gonna try to be better.
We, we gonna play as hard as we can in the second half, and hopefully we, we put ourselves in a much better position.
'Cause right now it's not, it's not where we wanna be.
I didn't have my best command today by any means.
But, you know, it's kind of the way the game goes sometimes.
It hasn't been fun, you know?
Not a lot of celebrating going on in this clubhouse right now, but, you know, get to take a couple days off and show up and try and do it again.
Is there anything you do personally during the All-Star break reset to, to kinda reset, for lack of a better word?
Yeah, anything but this.
