Freddy Peralta opens up on trade from Mets: 'A little sad'
As the Mets and Rays get set to start a three game series in Tampa Bay, former Mets pitcher Freddy Peralta, who was dealt to the Rays at the trade deadline, spoke with the media to discuss his emotions since the move and how he has been faring with his new team.

It's a challenge.
As every game, I think.
For me, I gonna, I take it the same way.
I just come in to compete and, and try to get the win.
For me, you know, obviously I feel different mentally and physically.
I feel, really comfortable right now.
You know, because I was, you know, working and, and a lot of stuff when I was in New York and, you know, but I couldn't make the adjustment, until I got here.
And but now, you know, the more important thing is now I, I am in the spot that I wanna be.
I don't see pressure.
It just, obviously the, the, it's, it's a way bigger market and there's a lot of more fans and, you know, it's, you know, people there, everybody's expect to win, for every day.
But I, you know, I see I enjoy that kind of, moments like, when I was in New York.
But I don't see it's pressure, it's just, you know, part of the game and, and, and, you know, it's what you as a professional are expecting to, you know, to pitch with and see in a bigger stadium.
So you don't think that was a factor in your, the way you pitched for the Mets?
No, no, no.
100% no.
It was the first time that I wa- that I, you know, struggling like that and But I never give up.
I al- I, I was always, like, trying to find a way to feel better, to pitch better.
And, you know, I knew that, that what I can do and I was feeling good physically too, and healthy, but I, I couldn't, make the adjustment.
But, you know, the good thing is that now I'm different.
I feel different and, and, and I'm ready to keep going until, World Series.
They were pretty good there.
Coaching, they were, they were really good.
They helped me.
They were trying to help all the time.
But, you know, for some reason when I got here, you know, I think, I don't know, for some reason it just, I think it was probably the time, that, you know, and everything just changed like that.
What was your reaction when they told you you were traded to Tampa Bay?
You know, I felt, I felt good because I was going to a team, a team that was playing really good and still playing really good, in the first place, competing all the time.
I like, you know, I, I be- I like the stadium here too.
I've been here before and obviously, you know, I was When the season started at the beginning, of this year, I wasn't expecting to be traded, you know, because I was, going to a new team.
I thought I was gonna be there, for the whole, whole year at least.
But you know, at the end, you know, in the time, it wasn't a secret that I, I knew that I was going to be traded at some point and, you know, I was just hoping to go to a team, like this one, you know, and thank God it was like that.
And what was the toughest part about leaving the Mets?
I think there's some different ones, but I, I would say, I made good friends there, really good friends.
And people there, they take care of me really well, when I t- in general, you know what I'm saying?
And, you know, for me that's, that's a little sad.
But at the end of the day I stay with that and I keep talking with them.
