Leven, in, in what's already been a really tough year, just the way things ended today, where do you, how do you kind of look at that one?
Yeah, it was a tough one.
I don't know.
How did you feel today?
Felt good.
Or, felt weird.
I don't know, I don't know why, but I think I was moving a little slow, and then, kind of talked about in between innings about just trying to move a little quicker, and I think I got a little rhythm after the second.
It just felt better, a lot better after that.
With your really deep counts this first time through the order, were you happy just to make it through six, just given how it started?
Yeah, definitely.
They got some good hitters on this team.
I know they haven't, you know, played up to their standard, but, some good players on that team, guys that I've faced before.
Never faced Sal.
He's a very good hitter.
So knew it was gonna be, you know, a little bit grindy, and, you know, I've had, I feel like every time I face De La Cruz, it's a 3-2 count at some point, just because he's, you know, he's a good player.
So, yeah, just knew, knew it was gonna be a tough one from the get-go, but I tried to get as many innings as I could, and, you know, it's been a tough couple days here with some of the, some of the guys going down and the bullpen stepping up, and so, yeah, just trying to, you know, go as, go as deep as I could.
When did they tell you that you might be flip-flopping with Landon?
I knew from the get-go.
I think it was, partially my idea.
But, yeah, I knew from the get-go.
Um- So you, so you just like to stay on turn?
I mean, I, I threw two innings last time, so I wanted to I don't think an extra day would have done me any, any good.
And, you know, as much as he probably wanted to pitch, I think, you know, giving Rupert an extra day is probably good, too.
Haven't thrown this many innings ever in his, in his life, and I've done it before, so I was just wanting to give him an extra day.
And, like I said, I threw two innings last time, so I wanted to, didn't want to sit on it for that long.
Were you a little surprised that Tony got the, ejected quite as quickly as he did?
Yeah, I mean, I, I didn't know if he swung or not.
Definitely didn't look like he swung.
But, you know, he's got our back, and, he's got my back, and I think he made his point when he was talking.
He was like, he's working his, you know, ass off out there talking about me.
And, yeah, it was, anytime your manager's got your back, and, obviously not the season we've wanted, and, just goes to show he's got a lot of, a lot of energy, and like I said, has our back.
How challenging is it to lead a really young, inexperienced locker room like this after a loss like this one?
Do you have a message or?
Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
It's tough.
You know, it doesn't matter if it's young, old, this one's always, stuff like this, you know, happens.
Never want it to happen, but every year I've been here, at least once or twice, it kind of, these, it's weird games, right?
We came back in that one game and scored a bunch, so, yeah, it's, it's, it's always tough.
But I think at the end of the day, you just got to show up tomorrow.
Kind of sucks because, you know, you're trying to get the first sweep of the year, and it hadn't gone our way.
And, you know, maybe you guys are trying too hard.
I don't, I'm not, could put a finger on it necessarily, but, yeah, I think you got to show up tomorrow and, and try to win.
So I think that would be my message.
You know, things happen.
You know, baseball, it's weird.
Even if it's, like the one we had the other, earlier in the season when Bryce hit the homer and we came back, scored a bunch of runs, still got to show up the next day and, and try to win a baseball game.
So, doesn't matter each way.
You just got to show up tomorrow ready to go, kind of flush it.
Sometimes it's hard to flush, right?
You know, not, like I said, you know, I, I went two innings last time.
Got to find a way to flush that, and just, I have it a little easier than some guys.
I get four days to think about it.
But, for a lot of these guys, you just, you got to show up ready to go tomorrow.
