I do think Devers, as much as that was a big deal last year, like, it really is a weird comp.
It, it's just not a clean fit- Yeah with, with an Eldridge.
And it would just be extremely easy if you were able to trade him.
and I do think, look, there's a lot of money left on that deal.
So that's, that's- So, so what do you think they'd have to eat financially for some of these?
A third of it?
Yeah.
I mean, I Maybe less for Chapman, 'cause it's less money.
But, this was discussed on MLB Network today, and Dan O'Dowd, who's a former GM, said I think he said at least 50 million on the Devers deal.
Yeah.
So that's about, probably about a quarter of what's left after this year.
which that would hurt obviously.
But- Yeah the Devers one, I, I, I'm curious to see.
I think that's where I'm most curious to see where this goes, because he's still You know, I think there are a lot of teams around the league who still would be very interested in the player.
Like, it- Yeah.
There was a lot of shock last year when the Giants got him, because people were like We didn't really know he was gettable in June.
Yeah.
He, he was on the market?
Yeah.
And there were concerns about the contract, but I think there were some other teams that probably felt they could, you know, get Boston to pick up some of that deal, and it becomes a better contract.
So I, I do think there are probably gonna be some GMs around the league who would still be like, "What would happen if you threw him in the middle of, of our group right now?
But also, we're not gonna pay the full freight for him."
Yeah.
and that one for the Giants I think is really interesting, 'cause it's probably worth having that conversation.
Because it's the easiest thing in the world all of a sudden right now to just say, "Bryce Eldridge, you're playing first base," and now the DH spot has been opened up.
And, even if you do have to eat a lot of money there, you are also opening up quite a bit of money to spend- Yeah going forward.
So there's a lot to discuss here.
I don't think I mean, nothing here is anywhere even close to being called close.
Like, it is This is the very beginning of the market in general.
and I You know, the Giants are Don't think people are burning up the phone lines to you know, they're gonna get a lot of calls on Arias, but even that has been very slow from what I've heard, just because- Yeah teams are, are very hesitant to part with, with prospects in, in June.
But yeah, it's They are gonna be I think what we've seen the last few days is they are gonna be front and center.
very likely to be front and center I think at the trade deadline.
