The Green Bay Packers May Have a Culture Problem Brewing

Well, I had some thoughts, and, and let me explain why I feel the way I do.
So I really delved into this, this, this release that they sent out, 'cause I think you can learn a lot from how a team kind of talks about things, right?
I just- yeah.
And, when it came to LaFleur, so, so in this release they, like, highlighted each man that they were extending.
So with LaFleur, they said, you know, he's led the Packers to 76, 76 regular season wins in his career, and they mentioned that he was tied with Paul Brown for number two in NFL history for the most wins by a head coach in his first seven NFL seasons.
For Gutekunst, let's see.
They mentioned something about the playoffs, like he's been to the playoffs this many times- Mm-hmm since he's been with the, been with the organization.
So my takeaway, kind of, they were- they were kind of propping up here's regular Caesar- regular season wins, here's playoffs.
Mm-hmm.
My takeaway is they That that's what's actually important to them- Yeah is getting to the playoffs, and, and we might have said this once or twice, "Get to the, get to the dance and then see what happens," right?
But if you don't get there, you can't win a Super Bowl.
So- to me, th- they looked at Gutekunst, they looked at LaFleur, and they saw, "Well, at least they get us to the dance."
Yeah.
And that's more than however many teams in the league can say.
Yeah.
That- it, it's a really good point, and, and we're seeing it this year with, I, I'd say with the Patriots, where they get in, they have a great regular season, and their offense has kind of taken a step back, but their defense has taken a step up.
Mm-hmm.
And kind of unforeseen, but their defense has now carried them all the way to the Super Bowl, and you're like, "Oh, yeah!"
And also, on the flip side, then you have the one seed in the NFC, where they were dominant all year long.
They had two big wins over the Rams, and now they themselves are, are, the, are, are in the Super Bowl.
So it's like, yeah, your point, your point remains.
And everyone goes back to those Giants teams that were nine and seven and, and- Yeah wild card.
I think we lean too heavily on that, because I think that is more rare, but it does prove the point that once you get into the dance, man, you're, you're gonna have a chance.
And, and, yeah, like, that's, that's what you're committing to.
I will say this, that, you know, that, you know, for LaFleur, I, I think that, if you were to ask him with true serum, like, hey, he knows that the pressure's on, right?
I'm sure those conversations were- weren't easy.
Like, "Hey, we're gonna, we're gonna support you, but we gotta win playoff games.
We gotta get to the playoffs, and we have to win playoff games regardless of the situation.
with the roster, of injuries or whatever, we have to start winning some playoff games," and I bet he knows that.
and I mean, that's what he was trying to do anyway, so it's no different from what he was trying to do.
I, I don't hate the move- Yeah so, I don't want it all back.
Yep, I agree with you.
A- and again, it's been a, a long road to get to this point, but I, I, perhaps I've kind of traveled through all the stages of grief and, and now here I am- Hey, you're out of it!
