Matt LaFleur Reveals What Hurt Green Bay Packers in 2025
Discontent over player roles, not championship drive, fractured the Green Bay Packers. Head coach Matt LaFleur highlights the critical need for buy-in and clear communication.

Interesting story coming out of, Green Bay, specifically coming out of, the coaches' meetings, NFC coaches' breakfast even more sp-specifically than that.
Matt LaFleur was talking about his team and, and the Packers and kinda where they're at mentally right now after a five-game losing skid to end, last season, after, you know, frankly, there were people calling for his job for, for a good chunk of at least the first couple weeks of this off-season.
And, what you'll find very interesting, at least what I found very interesting, is that, L-LaFleur was clear that, that there was players on this team that were kinda malcontent last year.
he, he said it probably a little bit softer than that, but, what he said is, "If I'm being honest about it, I think there were some guys that were upset about roles last year, and I think that took a toll on our football team.
You need guys that bring great energy every day.
I think from a coaching standpoint, role clarity is key.
So we've obviously gotta do a better job of communicating with our players, saying, 'Hey, here's your role, and if you're unhappy about your role, it's on you to do something about that to carve a role out on this football team.'"
So I don't think he's talking about obviously your Jordan Loves, your Micah Parsons, but as you're listening to this, does your mind not go to Rashan Gary, who was clearly loafing at the end of the season after guys like Kingsley Enigbare and Barrett Sorrell and, you know, after some of your second-tier pass rushers were getting snaps over him because he just wasn't producing?
you wonder about KeShawn Nixon, who said, you know, was it last season, off-season or, or the off-season before that, that he didn't wanna be a kick returner, that he was CB1, right?
So, it's on LaFleur to fix this kinda stuff.
The good news is it's the off-season, so you can fix these kinda things, but if personnel's an issue, and maybe that's why they let some of these, these guys go.
So just interesting to hear.
Hopefully, he's able to fix it soon.
