Guardians’ Jose Ramirez, Angel Martinez Inching Closer to Return

Cleveland Guardians' Angel Martinez is set to start a rehab assignment while Jose Ramirez continues to progress.

Yeah, Angel's playing tonight in Columbus, so it's really good to see that he's back out on the field.

Jose is progressing really well.

So, you know, his swings are feeling better and better each day.

So they're still both kind of You know, Angel's out, he's gonna get built up, and then, obviously we're h- with Jose, we're just monitoring where he's at.

So good news on both of them.

Tonight, is he playing all games?

That's five innings tonight, the normal first game back.

What's the timeline for something like a footage, or really, what, what kind of window would that look like?

I mean, the window's open for 20 days, right?

I think with position players, so we know that, you know, we have a progression for him to build up to a certain amount of games and innings.

But at the same time, it's how's he feeling?

What, how's he looking?

How's, how's the rhythm with the game?

We're very much, you know So I think we schedule out a week at a time.

So we have from now until next Friday scheduled out, but it's all day to day, you know, make adjustments.

So both of their outcomes similar, both as far as when he could go out, just day to day, and- Yeah, I mean, with Jose it's, it's a little different.

You got somebody who's older, who knows his body, who's been doing it for a long time, so you kind of just lean on him.

But, you know, great conversation with him yesterday about how he feels and where he's at.

So again, yeah, it's kind of day to day, how you feeling?

What's the next steps?

Gotten to the point with Jose where you're talking about whether or not he's gonna need a rehab or- Yeah, I mean, again, he's gonna drive a lot of this just because he knows himself.

He's been working hard.

I think I read the other day his speed is up from where it was at the beginning of the year with his running and, he's been simulating innings, so we're not 100% sure he'll need to go out.

But again, that's a He's gonna know what he needs when he, he feels like he's ready to go play.
