There are a lot of off-season opinions flying around about second-year Chargers running back Omarion Hampton, Denny Carter, after his inconclusive rookie season.
That was especially true for fantasy football.
Everyone has a take.
That includes new, new Bolts offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who has comped Omarion Hampton, per O- Omarion Hampton, to Terrell Davis, the Hall of Famer, a workhorse for the Mike Shanahan Denver Broncos in the 1990s, back-to-back Super Bowl champions.
heady comp, probably not the most likely outcome, but is it a likely outcome at all maybe for a season?
What kind of upside do you see for Omarion Hampton with Mike McDaniel?
are these comments unrealistic?
Yeah, listen, I, I'm not penciling in, Hampton for 2,000 yards from scrimmage this year.
and it, it's partly because he was pretty inefficient last year, had trouble, you know, breaking tackles, making, yards after contact, things of that nature, things we like to see.
We didn't-- He didn't check those boxes.
And then the Chargers went out and, Mike McDaniel said, "We need to get Keaton Mitchell in this backfield."
And I'm not saying Keaton Mitchell is going to be the lead back in LA, but I am saying he's gonna be pretty annoying for folks who draft Omarion Hampton.
So just be careful about where you draft Hampton because I don't know if he has the sort of upside that they're talking about right now in LA.
Denny's not saying, but he is saying.
we're all saying a lot about this Chargers backfield.
It's gonna be one that requires a lot of updates between now and week one as we make our fantasy football plans for 2026.
