Nick Hoffman and Dan Ebert lead them to the Impact Race Gear starting zone.
Around five, Flow Racing Night in America here at Marshalltown Speedway, our 50th all-time event, and Hoffman and Ebert hanging on to it.
Dan did everything but spin out through turns one and two of the Ebert variety.
Holds onto it.
He'll sit in fourth, McCredie third, Pierce second.
Lap number one, it is Nick Hoffman leading the way.
Ebert will take third.
So early in this one, you're scoring along at home.
Outlaws one, two, and they're battling for position three.
Absolutely.
Lucas on the outside, Outlaws on the inside with Dan Ebert, the 60.
Tim McCredie in the nine.
McCredie was good in his heat race.
He's gonna slide up the racetrack, unable to clear Ebert.
Ebert's gonna drive back around him.
That's the battle for third two laps into this one.
Hoffman leads, Pierce second.
And they'll hold that true through turns three and four as, man, Devin really flirts with that top berm.
McCredie's got company.
He rides in position four behind Ebert, Pierce, and Hoffman, and now you got a battle for the lead.
Yeah, and business was about to pick up anyway as Pierce is gonna throw a slider into Hoffman as he drives it deep into turns three and four.
Do you have a new leader at Motown?
You do not.
Nick Hoffman takes it back away.
We knew business was about to pick up because they had closed in and caught the tail end of the field, and now the nine and the 32 going at it with 12 to score.
Yeah, Nick Hoffman says, "Man, every night out on Outlaws tour I gotta deal with this 32."
And now Flow Racing Night in America, it's all the same.
Working lap number 14 of this 50-lapper off of turn two.
Pierce is there.
Hoffman's picked up the, the wick a little bit after he saw that 32 pull to his inside.
You gotta wonder if Pierce is maybe biding his time.
Sometimes it's better to be in second than it is in first.
You can see where you need to be, especially when you're approaching lap traffic, trying to work around the leader.
Hoffman's gonna wash up the racetrack coming off turn two.
That opens up the door for the 32 of Pierce, and that might be the break that Pierce needed to lead this time by.
Working lap 15 off turn four.
New leader this time perhaps.
Yes, sir, it is Bobby Pierce to the lead.
Hoffman gonna blast to the top side, though several lap cars in front of your leader, Bobby Pierce.
But Hoffman loses traction on the top side as Jake Tim, Billy Moyer both fall victim going down a lap to Bobby Pierce off of turn number four.
And DJ, you saw Hoffman go to the top off of two, and man, that car just would not drive, and we got a Midwest Sheet Metal caution to slow the action, and it's Dan Ebert- Oh a flat right rear.
He was r- he was running third.
Yeah, he was 1.9 seconds behind your race leaders.
Still a long time to go here tonight.
We're back underway.
The Impact Race Gear restart zone down in turn number four, and Brandon Shepherd's gonna go around Hoffman, and Shepherd right through the middle of the racetrack.
And don't look now, Devin Moran goes to work on the top side of the track.
He's to fourth.
Hoffman back to third.
They're all chasing Pierce.
Dev gonna try to tiptoe the top side of turns three and four as well.
Allows the nine of McCredie to get an inroad.
Now he's got the nine of Hoffman directly in front of him once again.
Moran gonna try to work the top once again down in turns one and two, and don't look now- Oh but the Oh.
Oh, Hoffman.
Trouble for Hoffman in the nine, and that's gonna draw the Midwest Sheet Metal caution.
Well, and looked up, and he's shaking that car back and forth.
Like, did he lose power, or did you notice that off the corner?
It was kinda like he was trying to- To the green flag as Hudson O'Neal has worked his way from 17th up to seventh in this one, and we're back underway here at Motown.
Oh, man, they're gonna go three, four different grooves through the corner.
Meanwhile, McCredie throws it in there on Shepherd.
Good clean racing.
Shepherd back around him.
Here comes Devin Moran.
Those three battle off into turns three and four.
That's the battle for second.
They're all trying to get back to Pierce.
Man, Devin Moran almost got up underneath the fuel cell of the number nine of McCredie, but was able to gather the car back up.
Here comes the three of Brian Shirley trying to tiptoe through the field as well.
Hudson O'Neal has now worked his way up to position number six.
Man, the track's really nice right now.
I mean, it is a driver's track out there.
Devin working the top side.
It seems like in the long runs in one and two, that moisture's better on the bottom.
But as we have these little bit, as the lo- as, and early in the runs, I should say, you can really flare out, and you see Devin give up the top in three and four to go down in front of McCredie.
But here comes Hudson O'Neal, and he is up to sixth in car number six.
That's a great race, man.
Motown delivers once again as we inch our way closer to the halfway point.
Hudson O'Neal trying to master the top side of the high banks of Marshalltown Speedway.
He's up to fourth that time by the line, Ben.
He's gonna set his sights now on a podium run and try to work around the 99.
Meanwhile, out front, Bobby Pierce by eight-tenths of a second over Brandon Shepherd.
Shepherd's got about nine-tenths over this battle for position number three, and I don't think anybody wants a Midwest Sheet Metal caution because they don't want to give that six car a chance.
You see on the left side, Pierce leads the way, DJ.
We'll come around to complete lap number 24.
One lap away from halfway.
Pierce leads over Shepherd.
What a battle back there for third.
Don't look now, but Brandon Shepherd, I've noticed these last couple laps, has changed his groove and changed his line just a little bit.
He's actually closed back in on the 32 of Bobby Pierce.
Meanwhile, Tim McCredie closes back in on Hudson O'Neal.
Halfway home, 25 scored, 25 to go.
Yeah, McCredie says, "I'm not gonna let you get your fourth one here," that's for sure.
Good battle right there, and you gotta wonder, it seems like Huddy's a little bit better on the short runs, maybe a little bit softer on the tire, as they can run the NRM, NLMT three or four on the right rear.
Well, he'd abandoned the top side down to turns one and two for a few laps.
He goes back to the top in one and two, back to the top in three and four, but to your point, Ben, McCredie able to sneak by him that time by the scoring loop.
We double it up for the folks at home because just as we talked about a few laps ago, Brandon Shepherd closing back in on Bobby Pierce.
As he and McCredie go door to door for position five, and we got a Midwest Sheet Metal caution with 16 laps remaining.
We'll survey the oval to see what the situation may be.
Pierce had just caught the tail of the field.
Maybe at one car.
And I just see one car, sideways down in turns one and two as this Midwest Sheet Metal caution falls with 17 laps to go, and that is certainly gonna set the stage for s- for a wild finish.
Pierce, Shepherd, Moran, one, two, and three.
Well, Devin Moran gets a good bi- good bite on the bottom of the racetrack.
Now Sheppy picked the outside, Hudson way up top.
Man, you just gotta wonder, is that top getting too far around up there, DJ?
I don't know.
There's still a lot of moisture around the bottom of this racetrack as well.
It hasn't developed the cushion up top either- Yeah like we've seen.
Hud shoves up the racetrack again, still gets a good run off the corner as Pierce is gonna leave the 99 and the Rocket One behind him to battle for second.
Yeah, he loves watching those guys battle side by side back there, 'cause it's allowing him to creep away.
Hudson's closing in on him.
Hudson's just tempting fate every single time on top of the racetrack.
Last time by Pierce's lead, six-tenths of a second.
Four-tenths that time as the one car of Shepherd's starting to charge the middle, and now it seems like Huddy's getting a good rhythm in the top two.
He rides back and forth, and now Devin Moran'll go back to the top- Oh of the racetrack, and that spoils the party for Hud a little bit in McCredy and Fifth.
Yeah, you, you, you took the words out of my mouth.
Oh, no!
Oh, no, he tagged him going into the corner- Oh, no.
He saved it and somehow Moran saved it.
That looked like Don O'Neill at East Bend some years ago.
Going into turn three, yes.
Holy smokes.
What a save.
But if you're Devin, you gotta wonder, is that tire gonna be okay?
McCredy loves what he's seeing.
He may go two for one.
Really walked away from the field at all in this one since he took the lead on lap 15, but he's just far enough ahead that these guys can't get a run on him either.
All right, Hudson, can he make a run?
He moves to third.
We work to inside of 12 laps to go through turns three and four.
Hudson and Moran side by side for third.
Pierce creeping away.
Shepherd in second.
DJ, 10 laps remain.
Yeah, and I noticed that Brandon Shepherd's changed his line here these last couple laps as well.
He's gone down to the bottom in one and two, rolled the middle coming off the corner, and then he goes high in turns three and four, and you gotta wonder if that isn't gonna spoil the momentum of the Rumley 6 in the closing stages of this one.
Now nine to go.
Thornton, Shirley, Gustin, Erb, and Dennis Erb Jr. And Chris Simpson, your top 10.
Slider for second as Huddy takes the spot.
Sheppy turns back down the hill.
Brandon Shepherd back to second.
Hudson O'Neal to the cushion, DJ, inside of four to go.
Yeah, only Oh, I was just gonna say only four laps to go, and this happens 2.3 seconds behind Bobby Pierce.
I just don't think there's enough time- Oh, no and the six gets over the lip, and how on earth did he save it in three and four?
These guys are gladiators.
Oh my- They're gladiators goodness.
Oh.
That was wild.
Well, meanwhile, Bobby Pierce working through turns three and four.
Two laps to go in the 50-lapper here tonight.
He's got a monster lead.
That time by, in fact, over Brandon Shepherd, three seconds.
And I'll tell you what, we'll take a look after this one, 'cause we're coming back to the Allgaier Performance white flag one more time around the speedway.
We'll look at that Huddy replay when this one's said and done.
DJ, one more time around the speedway for Bobby Pierce.
Yeah, Bobby Pierce has caught the tail end of the field, but it's not gonna matter in this one.
Shep second, Hud is third, Devin Moran is fourth, and Ricky Thornton is fifth, and it looks like they're gonna stay that way all the way to the checkered flag.
Someone has dethroned Hudson O'Neal at Marshalltown Speedway for Flow Night in America, and it's the Smooth Operator, Bobby Pierce.
