But obviously everybody knows the man sitting next to me.
It's a two time All-Pro, three time Pro Bowler, started his career with the Buffalo Bills, had a long tenure with the Browns, and now the newest Houston Texan, Wyatt Teller.
How you doing, man?
Good.
Thank you guys for having me.
Man, I, I really appreciate you taking the time, to meet with us, and, you know, I'm really excited.
Myself and a lot of the fans are excited to have you here in Houston, and you seem like a great family man.
I met your wife Carly as well, and your kids.
First off, just to kind of like, you know, familiarize Houston with you, like, who is Wyatt Teller?
Yeah.
Well, my son will run in here in probably about two minutes and, you know, jump around.
But, yeah, born and raised in, northern Virginia.
Went to Virginia Tech.
You know, I was drafted to Buffalo.
Spent about 18 months there.
Then was traded to Cleveland.
Spent seven years in Cleveland, and now I'm, a new Texan.
I'm excited about it.
Likewise.
We're all really excited as well, and, you know, a question I gotta get off before I forget.
My wife, she would be very upset if I didn't ask, but she said to make sure to ask you about your faith.
She kinda noticed that you were a, a faith-based person, if you wanna kinda touch on that a little bit.
Yeah.
I grew up in the church.
You know, I've, I've always had a relationship with Christ.
You know, I feel like, you know, the last couple years I've, you know, really taken steps forward.
I, I feel like having a ki- you know, kids and a family will do that, and it, it, it's always, you know, I've always found it impressive guys who, you know, are young or something like that who are go- men of faith, and you, you just see them and you're like, "Wow, that's, you know, rockstar faith."
but I was actually at this, conference, speaking of the Texans too.
I was actually at this conference earlier this year.
It's an NFL based conference, PAL, and basically it's for present and post football players.
It's kind of more relationship based.
Like, you know, a lot of people show up with their wife and kids, but also it's, like I said, it's, you know, older players as well, so.
But you see some guys who are single, and one of those guys was CJ, CJ Stroud, and he was You know, I remember him coming in and he kind of in a weird way, not in a weird way, kind of in a low-key way, recruiting me to, to Houston, and was like, "Dude, we, we'd love to have you."
The first thing he does is, one of the, one of the first days, I mean, I've met him over the years.
I mean, you, you, you know, just shaking hands and saying, "Hey, how's it going?"
But, he goes and basically recruits my wife first, which is smart man.
Smart man.
And basically was like, "Hey, I'd love to, love to have you guys down in Texas.
I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll come watch your kids."
And I'm like, "All right, CJ.
You don't, you don't wanna do that.
Don't do that.
I, you'll be pulling your hair out.
But, but no, he's, he's an awesome guy, and kinda, you know, got to talk to him a little bit and he ended up, you know, reaching out and just doing what he could to, to kind of bring me here.
And, now, you know, seven months, six months later, here I am and it's a blessing.
