Islam Makhachev’s viral phrase gains traction across other professional sports
Islam Makhachev said his "send 2–3 years to Dagestan" one-liner has become a locker-room phrase across sports, underscoring the reach of his remark. In a conversation with Adam Zubayraev, the UFC welterweight champion cited mentions from Novak Djokovic and the Paris Saint‑Germain locker room. He added that Anthony Joshua sought approval to print T‑shirts reading "2–3 years Dagestan," and referenced prior advice to Daniel Cormier about training in Dagestan. Makhachev said increased interest has crowded his Dagestan gym with visitors seeking photos or sessions. He is scheduled to defend his welterweight title against Ian Garry (17-1) at UFC 330 on Aug. 15 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
