Increasingly toxic standoff between the San Francisco 49ers and the estranged wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, is, finally approaching its definitive final chapter.
The front office is prepared to officially cut ties and move on from the former All-Pro with an outright release expected to occur before the players report for training camp in late July.
According to the prominent NFL insider, Jason La Canfora, citing multiple league sources, the 49ers have reached a point where they simply want the administrative head-headache resolved.
Given Aiyuk's non-existent trade market, releasing him into the open market represents the most realistic end to this multi-year saga.
The move caps off an incredibly hostile dispute between the receiver and the franchise that originally drafted him number twenty-five overall in the twenty-twenty draft.
