Jones addresses Cowboys’ interest in Crosby

The story isn't over.
One last point before we break.
We reported yesterday at profootballtalk.com that the Raiders are telling teams that Maxx Crosby is not available.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jerry Jones said yesterday, the Cowboys, when asked whether the Cowboys are interested in Maxx Crosby, "We're pretty far down the road, so while I don't anticipate it, I don't want to rule anything out."
Now, I remember the day, I'm old enough to remember, as they say, when owners and GMs and coaches wouldn't talk about players under contract with other teams.
I saw Ryan Poles, the GM of the Bears yesterday, acknowledge that they were involved in the Maxx Crosby talks.
Like, that used to be a third rail that you didn't touch- Yeah 'cause you get yourself into tampering, and especially with Maxx in kind of a Like, he- he's all in with the Raiders again, and it may be once he goes back and he, he sees Alex Guerrero and remembers how- reportedly irritated he is by Alex- Yeah Guerrero's presence, that's a Mike Silver report from last week.
Maybe he starts thinking, "Man, I really still would like to get out of here, and I'm feeling pretty good now, and I'm feeling pretty healthy now, and I think I can do what I did."
Then all of a sudden he's thinking, "Man, the Cowboys and the Bears, they were interested in me."
So that's exactly why the tampering rules are there.
You don't want comments from other teams to get inside a player's head and affect his relationship with his current team.
So I'm a little surprised that both Poles and Jerry said what they said, and I'm extra surprised Jerry said it, 'cause his team doctor was involved in the panel of experts who decided the Ravens shouldn't go forward with this transaction.
So that's something to keep an eye on.

I'm sorry that Maxx Crosby got caught in the middle of this, but thank you Raiders, Ravens, and football gods for giving us something that has delivered big time this week and is gonna give us plenty of stuff to watch, Michael, in the coming days, weeks, months, and even years.
And I know the Raiders, I mean, they've made some good moves in free agency, but they're not quite there yet.
They- they- they It wouldn't be so much of a gift that the Raiders and Ravens are scheduled to play each other this year, right?
No, they're not.
Or did- I checked.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I checked.
But there's always the playoffs.
Wouldn't the Raiders love that?
Well, yeah.

Wouldn't they love it?

Yeah, I'd love to see the Raiders and the Ravens in the playoffs.
Let's be realistic, though.
I mean- Yeah both of them missed it last year.
The Raiders have been there- Yeah twice since 2002.
But who's most likely to miss it- So in 2026?
Yeah.
We know that.
Yeah, especially in the AFC West, when you consider that division.
I said last year, you put the Raiders in a different division, it, you know, who know- who knows how it goes.
And then that was back when, that was back when Pete Carroll had everyone convinced they actually weren't going to be horrible.
Pete Carroll convinced everyone that they weren't gonna be horrible, and then they ended up being horrible.
