Lilian Odira shares how meaningful it was to win the women's 800m at the Prefontaine Classic on her first trip to the United States of America.

Would you just tell us about your race?
Awesome.
Yeah, okay.
I mean, it's amazing.
I'm happy.
First time in America, and winning my first race over here, I think I'm so happy and yeah.
What did it take to kind of chase down Kiwi there down that last 100?
I mean, when I saw the race yesterday, I knew it was gonna be fast, but, don't have go- have gotten a single rest, I'm so happy.
And, yeah, so I felt like I was ready for the race, and my body was good, so I decided to go for it, yeah.
When did you feel like you began to kick, about 200?
Something- I think the last 100 was always the- The last 100 yeah, has always been my best part of the race.
So- Yeah I've always given it all when it comes to the last 100, so I always make sure that I do my execution well so that when I'm getting to the last 100, I'll still have energy.
What does it mean to you to, to beat the champion like that?
I mean, this is my second time racing Kiwi, and, it's been amazing.
I always say that racing against Kiwi, you should always ex- expect faster times.
And, yeah, I think my body was good, and, I decided to go for it.
