Lions Add LB Damone Clark in Latest Free Agency Move
Just when it looked like Detroit was done in free agency, Brad Holmes made another move. The Lions added Damone Clark—a high-upside linebacker with a unique comeback story and something to prove.

What's going on everybody?
We are in day nine?
Ten?
We are in quite a bit of free agency.
it's definitely been over a week.
But regardless, the Lions aren't done yet.
After signing DJ Wonnum yesterday, they went out and signed another player, Damon Clark, formerly from the Texans and Cowboys.
the Lions, this, this is another interesting move where Brad Holmes just keeps building and adding depth, and I completely thought yesterday, I even said this, that Detroit would wait until after the NFL draft to make any more signings.
They quickly proved me wrong, immediately signed, DJ Wonnum, and then today they signed Damon Clark, linebacker from the Texans and Cowboys.
So who is Damon Clark you might ask.
Well, he is a former fifth-round pick out of LSU, has had a lot of injury history.
He's labeled as a bit of injury-prone, and overall, he's not gonna be counted on to be a starter.
I like to look at him as a backup to the backup with upside.
Contract's gonna be very cheap, I assume.
he had spinal infusion surgery for a herniated disc.
Pretty sure that's what Sam LaPorta had.
Not sure if LaPorta had spinal fusion surgery, but he had a herni-herniated disc as well.
So I believe that is what caused his draft stock to slide into the fifth round.
Damon Clark played one season with the Cowboys, all seventeen games.
That was his only season he played every game.
he started all seventeen games, too.
With the Texans, he was mainly a special teams guy.
I think he could definitely contribute to the special teams of the Lions.
We lost a handful of special teams players, including Daniel Thomas just, earlier today, former safety special teams player signed with the Cleveland Browns.
So Damon Clark will add some depth to that linebacker group where obviously we do not have Alex Anzalone anymore.
we still have Rodrigo, we still have Trevor Nowaskey, and I believe that DJ Wonnum can play some outside linebacker, but I would assume that he would be primarily an edge rusher, so we'll, we'll see how that goes.
But overall, n-nothing, nothing crazy, just a little signing here, nothing that's gonna wow you, but I do like the adding of depth.
I would like more guys It's hard because he's an injury-prone player, and I want healthy guys because the Lions have had such struggles with health over the last three seasons.
So depth is depth.
Maybe he stays healthy this full season, but only time will tell.
