Top 2 Most Impactful Defensive Free Agent Signings for the Detroit Lions
Free agency is often about big names, but the Lions may have made their most important moves with two defensive signings that could significantly improve consistency, versatility and coverage next season.

What is going on Lions Nation?
We are making some moves still.
The Lions just added another guy, Peyton Turner, defensive lineman.
We also re-signed Miles Adams, defensive lineman.
Just a bunch of little itty-bitty moves.
I got a feeling Brad Holmes, he's, he's up to something.
I don't know what it quite is, but we have signed now 10 new players.
It's a lot of new bodies on the team.
So Holmes obviously wasn't content with the squad we had last year, at least from a depth standpoint.
But overall, I think a couple of these guys are gonna make a big impact.
two in which I think will be solid upgrades on the defense are, number one, I gotta go DJ Wonnum.
A lot of people are gonna disagree with me about this.
AQM had 11 and a half sacks last year.
It's like, how do you top that, 11 and a half sacks?
That was phenomenal.
Well, he had eight sacks in three games, and he's only had four more sacks, one out of his prior seven seasons before last year.
So it seems awfully fluky to me.
AQM also wasn't big in the run defense.
DJ Wonnum, much better, graded a little better, played more snaps, is a little more versatile, polished, et cetera, et cetera.
But overall, I, I think it's gonna be an upgrade.
I think that Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell kinda saw AQM as a one-hit wonder.
Next, we got Roger McCreary coming in for Amique Robertson.
I know Christian Eisen will maybe play that slot cornerback a bit too, but McCreary is a slot corner.
he was traded to the Rams last year, so obviously the Rams, if they wanted to trade for him, he's gotta be decent.
You know, they didn't give up a boatload or anything.
I think it was just a sixth-round pick.
But regardless, Amique Robertson was quite bad last year.
And I will give him a little benefit of the doubt.
He's typically a slot corner.
He had to play a lot of outside, a lot of CB1 due to injuries.
But overall, Amique ranked in like the bottom five in all major stats.
He led up the third most receptions, the most receiving yards to a receiver.
He was, the fifth worst PFF-graded cornerback.
And McCreary, it's hard to imagine that he's gonna be worse than that.
So, I think that the Lions are making, not massive upgrades, but upgrades in small aspects of the ball.
So we'll see what happens.
I think next moves are gonna be around the draft.
I keep saying this though, and the Lions keep going and getting little guys and signing one-year deals, but we will see.
