Liverpool fight back in thrilling four-goal draw
Rebecca Lowe and the chaps react to Newcastle's 2-2 draw with Liverpool, where a late stoppage-time penalty rescued a point for the Reds at St. James' Park.

It's a little bit light, I'll be honest, a little bit unsure.
You can see those are coming together, just knee on knee.
I think it's a little soft, but the referee, I gotta say, was strong.
When I looked at his reaction, he's right on top of it, and he gives it.
Re- VAR checks and clears it, so in the end, it's a penalty.
Robbie Earl, what do you make of it?
Yeah, there was enough contact there, and then, wow, what about confidence?

Newcastle United, so much change, so much young players, particularly in the midfield, and it was a spirited performance.

But fair play to Liverpool, kept throwing things forward.
It's not the best looking, the most experienced looking squad.
There's a lot of work for them to do, I think, in the market.
But fair play, they kept throwing a ball forward and Victor Muoz does his little bit.
He looked lively, as did Koumas, and they get the equalizing goal.
Who looked more ready for this season out of those two teams?
Oh, it's a really good question, because one of my notes where I wrote, both these teams have work to do in what I call their passing sequences.
They're not kind of nailed down yet.
It's not like everybody's on the same wavelength.
I've gotta say, I was slightly surprised by, by Newcastle.
There's been so much talk about the players leaving, about Eddie Howe going, about this is about, you know, this could be a real struggle.
Matthias Jaissle was, was sat in front of us.
He's confident.
He, he's aggressive.
He, he's got a lot, a little bit of arr- arrogance I think you need as a, as a manager, and he got a reaction from his team.
And he'll be so disappointed that his team just weren't able to hang on to a 2-1 victory, 'cause three points would've been incredible start for him.
Yeah, we're hoping to talk to Matthias Jaissle, as you say, who was just a few yards in front of us.
He kicked every single ball.
What did you make of him today, for the first time seeing him, Tim?
Well, hi- him and his team, football's a funny old game.
I mean, L- Lewis Hall, again, brilliant game.
Then gives away a penalties.
He'll, he'll feel like he had a terrible game after that.
What the boys said, I, I mean, Newcastle lost three top players.
They, they lost three of their best players, easily.
That's not even a stretch.
Really good manager.
So r- this is why being here is so amazing.
You start to, you sort of think, "Oh, they're gonna struggle today, or this season."
And as Earl just said, they're not gonna struggle.
They're a good team.
Yeah, they have a few more pieces to come, but in the at- in the attack, they're sharp, they're fast.
They, they get after it.
Yeah, the, the football wasn't flowing.
That will come.
I liked this Newcastle side.
Did the crowd get to Alexander Isak?
Yeah.
Yeah, not enough from him again.
And we talked about the importance of Isak and Florian Wirtz, and the two of them didn't show up.
I, I, and, and if they're not, if they're not gonna improve on that, then this team's gonna always struggle.
We know that this, this team's got gaps in certain parts of the, of the, of the team.
But those two have to show up.
This was Richard Hughes' decision last summer to spend the money on those two players, and they ki- obviously he's had a bad injury.
I mean, the two of them have got to do better.
Like, like they, like the struggle of the intense physic- I mean, it's not until you're here, the physicality of these Premier League games is pretty immense, and Wirtz at the moment is not able to accept that role with it and be effective.
There wasn't even a glimpse, a glimmer, was there, of the two of them together?
No.
And, and when you make the contrast, Rebecca, to the best team we've seen so far in this weekend at Arsenal, it's night and day in terms of players, in terms of speed of play, in terms of what they're doing.
I mean, the- there's a bit of work still for, for Iraola to do with this Liverpool team, 'cause when I look at them today, they look like they're gonna score a few goals, but they're gonna concede a few as well
