PL Update: Newcastle upend Spurs

Big scoreline from North London.
Tottenham Hotspur nil, Newcastle United two.
That's two straight defeats now for Spurs, and a draw and a victory for Newcastle United.
Let's show you how it all unfolded, shall we, in North London.
Robbie, into the first half, plenty of chances for Spurs.
Yeah, plenty of chances, but not quite clinical inside the 18-yard box.
Mattias Tell here with a decent strike.
Ponoczek does well to push that one away, and then they work the ball really nicely down this left-hand side.
Robertson gets there.
Porro thinks when the ball finds its way to him that he's just gonna poke this into the back of the net.

I thought he was the best player on the pitch for Newcastle today.
And then Van Hecke from this corner kick routine.

Goalkeeper again pushes the ball away to safety, and they keep it nil-nil at halftime.
Into the second half, Newcastle were better.
Nico Gonzalez on his first Premier League start for Newcastle puts a ball out to that right-hand side, and that is a beautiful finish by Anthony Elanga.
No goals, as you said, all last season.
Two goals in two games for him, and this, Newcastle get back into the game.
Here's the connection.
Gonzalez sees Dedrich on the far side.
It's called the switch of play, where you're gonna go right across to the opposite side.
Spurs are vulnerable as this ball gets played.
You can see Robertson's there.
He's caught between Elanga and Dedrich.
The ball's headed down, and then there's still plenty of work to do for the winger.
This is a man in form.
This is a man playing with confidence that we didn't really see last season.
As the ball comes in, gets his body in between him and Tonali, who's gonna spin.
And then look at this one, how he just gets a little bit of bend on the ball so it goes away from the goalkeeper but just gonna hit the post, kiss its way into the back of the net.
It's a beautiful finish and deserving Well, he doesn't appreciate it.
The guy's delighted with his team.
And then when the ball comes in from a corner kick, substitute Botman wins a header, and there's Wissa, last week's Man of the Match.
There's a celebration we saw during the World Cup.
And he gets up, heads the ball down.
Really good improvisation from the striker.
He looks to be back in focus, in good form, and you love getting your first goal of the season to make it two-nil to Spurs.
A terrible start for Tottenham.
Five goals conceded, no goals scored in their two Premier League games.
Yeah, Newcastle United, thanks to Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa, taking away a big three points from North London.

Met in Coventry, what happened?
Well, first half, it was Tyrell Maleni had the best chance.
The ball comes to him.
He just kind of uses his, his knee to try and steer the ball into the goal.
Vlachodimos makes a, a decent save to put it wide.
Then a substitution came on.
Liam Millar came on on 59 minutes for Elliot Stroud and had two really big moments in the game.
He, he's got a lot of pace, Millar, and when he gets played here from McBurnie, he gets away from the last defender.
And I don't mind him actually taking the shot on here, 'cause his teammate doesn't particularly look like he wants the ball.
Really should be at least hitting the target.
And then 82 minutes on the clock again, the ball turns over.
H- Hull City break.
This time it's a straight race for, for Millar.
He's gonna win the race, and now it's about his composure and his decision and his choice.
He makes the right decision to go hard and low past the goalkeeper.
And as you see, once the ball's won here, not a secure position from Coventry chasing towards their own goal.
Nobody's gonna catch him up, and nobody's gonna stop that going into the back of the net.
And Hull City getting back-to-back wins in the Premier League.
Not a good day for Frank.
Yeah, not a good start back into the Premier League after 25 years away for Coventry City.
In terms of two wins out of two to start a Premier League season for a newly promoted club, Swan Wanderers did it, in 2001-02.
They stayed up.
Hull did it in 2016-17, but went down despite winning their first two.
Huddersfield did it in 2017-18, also stayed up.
Will Hull City buck their own trend of doing it and then going down come the end of the season?
We shall see.
Bournemouth against Everton at Vitality Stadium, that's where we head next.

Yeah, Everton off to a really good start.
Just from the set piece here.
Brant wait, and he thinks he's scored.
It's a really good glancing header.

Strong wrist keeps it out, and that's a top, top-class save there.
And this is the other side of goalkeeping, which isn't fun.

Petrovic spills it, but from really good reactions from him, he makes a second save from the goalkeeper.
They rue that miss because Bournemouth hit Everton on the break.
Evanilson latches onto this long ball.
Turns Tarkowski inside out, but Tarkowski does enough just to slow him down.
Alex got it at the edge of the box.
You see these Everton players get back here, but no one gets tight.
And when they don't get tight to him, he shifts it out of his feet, takes a slight deflection, which happens oftentimes when you have bodies in front of the ball.
It's a poor goal, to be fair, to concede if you're Everton, but credit Bournemouth for sticking at it, going ahead one-nil and then Tiago Barry would have a good chance at really good interception on the front foot.
As he gets played in here, gets it out of his feet, chops it.
Another big one-on-one save from Petrovic there in the 79th minute.
Bournemouth on the attack.
Bryant here forces a good save from Pickford, and then the reaction.
Evanilson gets blocked by Hackney.
Just have a look at this.
Pickford just down really, really sharp.
And Hackney there helps his goalkeeper out just to keep it at one.
And it was a good thing it did because Everton, 90-plus one, Tarkowski, wow, he latches onto that.
All Bournemouth have to do is clear the ball.
Tiago and Christie just talk, you see the game out, you get three points.
But instead they concede really late, one-one.
Unbeaten for Everton for their start to the season.
A victory last week and now a draw- platformer.
So let's take you to Liverpool against Nottingham Forest, the early game of the day.
Tim, staying with you for this one.
Yeah, good game.
Exciting from both sides.
You just see here, route one stuff.
Igor Jesus latches onto it.
Gibbs-White plays it out wide.
Ndoye, and just here, I mean, Matt Sels launches it from, from his own near penalty area.
You see Frimpong and Van Dijk, they're all out of sorts.
There's no real back four intact, and they pay for it.
At this point they're in recovery.
They can't get enough numbers to the ball.
They're outnumbered four to three possibly.
Ndoye just puts it past Alisson.
It's a good, good strike to be fair, and then they level things, or at least they thought they did through Florian Wirtz.
Ball pops around Frimpong, sort of sets Wirtz, he swivels on it and that's a good strike.
The problem is, in the buildup, Frimpong, here at this moment, is offside.
So even though Wirtz touches it and then it goes onto the head of McAtee, because the ball was for Schr, McAtee never had real proper control of it.
He didn't deliberately play the ball and get it in control.
You just see here, it pops up, still there the ball's for Schr and because of that, Frimpong started in an offside position and the referee and the VAR in the end get it right.
The goal is disallowed.
Still 1-0.
You can see there, completely offside.
Matt Sels would have another opportunity here.
Florian Wirtz in the middle of goal.
He had himself a good game.
This little looping header tests Sels, just tips it over the crossbar there.
And then Forest have a real good opportunity.
I mean, if they go 2-0 here into the break, game's probably over.

Other side of the break, Cody Gakpo's been doing lovely work this season.
Great little spin turn across that puts Isak in.

Then they're trying to get subs on here.
They're trying to make, make three subs, which probably isn't easy for the fourth official, but Andoni Iraola really, really upset because by the way, this took much longer than the clip that we're showing you.
And then right off the back of that, this happens.
Lletget, smart, quick, gets to the ball.
Neco Williams pops it over Alisson but gets taken down, and the right hand of Alisson catches Neco Williams here.
I mean, I, I've been in this position and I'm thinking if I'm a goalkeeper here and I get that much contact on a striker, no matter where the ball went, that for me is a penalty.
I think they get that right in the end.
Gibbs-White steps up, thinks he puts Forest clear away at 2-1, but 82nd minute, Victor Muoz, I have to say, he's been really lively and sharp the last couple weeks since he's been on, and I tell you what, great finish.
Slight deflection, but good result in the end for Forest, I have to say.
2-2 the final score at Anfield, so that is two games, two draws now for Andoni Iraola.

How do you assess your team's performance?
Obviously, I think, not the result you want.
I think two very different, halves.
I think we were poor in the first half.
Even being poor, we've been also unlucky in terms of their goal is slightly VAR offside.
The goal we score is slightly offside, you know.
You haven't been in the, in the right side, but I think we've been very poor in the first half.
And, we've been much, much better in the second half.
I think the intensity was different.
I think if, you are gonna lose, you have to lose like in the second half, no?
A lot more, more intense, a lot more, threatening and, and I finish happy with the second half, but, it was, late for, for, for winning the game.
What was your thoughts on their penalty?
Because as well as the incident itself, it also looked like you wanted to make a triple substitution before the incident happened.
Yeah.
I will You analyze the penalty.
But yes, it cannot be, a professional fourth official cannot take, take, I don't know, three minutes.
We've already given the, the, the subs like, I don't know, two, three minutes before.
We, I was already angry because in the previous stop we couldn't make it, and, before the throw in I think, "Okay, we'll do it now," but, I don't know.
They will have to explain it, but, it has taken ages, no, to prepare two words.
