Joe Mixon was one of the more 20- 25 fascinating players who didn't even play a down, Denny Carter.
A summer foot injury.
We never found out the extent, we never found out the details.
Other than it was enough to hold him out for the entire year.
Uh, Texans still kinda bizarrely tight-lipped about it.
We think he'll be healthy enough to play in 2026.
Still a player who doesn't even turn 30 until July.
Always younger than you think.
Uh, but just a lot of caveats.
A lot of unknowns with Joe Mixon.
If he's back, If he's playing in 2026, he's an easy cut for the Texans.
By the way, but he could be back in Houston.
What kind of back would Houston be getting?
What kind of back would another team be getting if he's cut loose?
Yeah, those of us who drafted Mixon in redraft leagues wish the Texans were less tight-lipped.
Uh... About the situation.
But, uh, I, I would expect Mixon to draw a fair amount of interest on the if he does hit the open market.
Because, you know, he's not necessarily an older back, like you said.
Um, he's a productive back.
He is a, a potentially every-down guy who coaches really like and trust, you know?
Um, not.
Not super exciting, not an explosive running back, but I, I, I do think he will have a lot of appeal, uh, for teams that, that need a lead back or at least some- someone who can split the workload in 2026.
This is assuming, of course, that the foot injury is okay and that this won't have lingering effects going into next season.
Until last year, Joe Mixon had also been very very durable.
He would get hurt, and he would miss maybe a game at most, then he'd be back playing all three downs.
