MLB Trade Deadline Rumors: Red Sox, Nationals Get Things Started, Dodgers’ Ohtani Plan

The MLB Trade Deadline is officially underway! Adam Weinrib and MLB insider Robert Murray break down Boston's first deadline move, sending Connelly Early to Washington for Curtis Mead, and what it signals about Craig Breslow's aggressive plans. They discuss whether the Red Sox are still searching for another impact bat, what the deal means for Foster Griffin's market, and whether Shohei Ohtani's delayed return to the mound changes the Dodgers' pursuit of Tarik Skubal as deadline season continues to heat up.

Welcome to the Baseball Insiders.

Happy Monday , one week away from the trade deadline, and what a crazy weekend it was, Robert, when we went to bed on Friday, we had no idea that we were entering a whirlwind of checks, notes, one trade, one trade went down.

Uh, unless you count Jose Urquiti to the White Sox, which, like, hey, everybody, weigh into the comments, let me know if you count Jose Urquiti to the White Sox.

But we've got Connolly Early for Curtis Meade, controllable starter for a bat that would play very well at Fenway Park.

The price is high if you're looking for offense, you gotta give up a lot of years of a starting pitcher who really matters.

What's next for Boston, what's next for Washington?

How does this affect the rest of the landscape?

Names that could have been dealt like Shay Langgaliers and Spencer Steer both go down to varying degrees of severity this weekend.

We wanna hear from you.

We're turning it over, we've got a week to go before the deadline.

We wanna hear from you in the comments.

Give us questions, let us know who you wanna hear about, what rumors you want.

want addressed, we will do our best to get to them all because it's been a weird, slow, sludgy start to the trade deadline.

We wanna give the fans what they're looking for.

Um, so far, we're not able to give them the trades that they're looking for unless you are a Nationals or Red Sox fan.

So, Robert, we'll break that down, we'll get to the questions from the crowd.

We wanna talk, we, we need movement.

We'll be doing some temperature checks.

We, we just gotta get one needle moved and then maybe we'll be able to get some more, uh, some more out there.

No, exactly.

And this is the time of the year where it's the start of the podcast, my phone ends up getting texts from numbers that I do recognize and numbers that I don't recognize and It's, you never know exactly where you're gonna be getting it from, but it is absolutely a crazy time of the year.

Uh, obviously got one big trade that ended up happening this past weekend and then also a smaller one yesterday involving the Pirates and the White Sox.

There is going to be more movement.

I, at this point though, it seems like the market's still kind of waiting to pick up, but I would expect as the deadline gets closer that these conversations are gonna heat up and despite, like a bunch of rumors here, like, maybe people suggest Testing that it could be a quiet deadline.

I do expect it to pick up and actually be quite eventful.

So it should be a good time.

I'm ready to break it all down cause my notebook is full.

Adam Winder, how's it going?

One week to go, Plenty still up in the air, seeing the questions in the chat.

Obviously, a lot is up in the air.

You guys wanna know a lot about Plenty.

We'll use as a baseline that the early me conversation first, uh, got the trade deadline going, it didn't exactly spark anything 48 hours later, but 135 OPS plus a tight breakout this year for Mead, early on the shelf right now, but showed the ceiling of a 3 with Neves of Steel at Yankee Stadium last year in Game 3.

Deboni and Breslow know each other well.

Jeff Passan says the Sox aren't done seeking a big bat.

This is a bigger bat at 2nd than it would have been at 3rd.

He's automatically, I think, the 2nd best offensive 2nd baseman in baseball this year.

I'm a little surprised Early goes for Mead instead of maybe in a package for a more established name , but Taboni and uh Taboni and Breslow talk a lot.

I'm sure they had a long conversation about what's behind this breakout, how sustainable it is, they trust one another, he fits at Fenway Park nicely, whether he is this peak version of himself or not.

The Red Sox got better, I think the Nationals did too.

This is a win-win trade for me, but I'm curious your thoughts.

The initial reaction from me, and I think a lot of people across the league was this seemed like an overpay by the Red Sox, um, Connolly Early was a player that I was really surprised as he moved here, um, and the Nationals were thrilled to get him.

Like, it's a player that Paul Taboni knows very well.

He's one of his favorite players, both on the field but also off the field, who regards him as a, a really good character guy, uh, but they're super optimistic about what they got there, and, and it sounds like the Nationals are thrilled, and Curtis Meade, like, that was also, like, a difficult player for the Nationals to part with, like, this is, it was not like a, oh, like a no brainer deal, like, this is a player that they, they really liked, and parting with him was really difficult, and it sounds like he is one of the, like, I've never spoken to him before, but as far as like the baseball intelligence and baseball intellect, like, it sounds like.

Like he is just well beyond his years.

And the, the players with them, people around the Nationals just totally rave about Curtis Meade.

So, um, what they've seen and what the Red Sox have seen and what everyone has seen from Curtis Meade is what people across baseball and specifically the Red Sox believe is going to be the new norm for him, and they think this is going to be sustained.

So, um, It caught me by surprise for sure.

I thought there might be another element or two to the deal, um, but Craig Breslow clearly believes in a guy like Curtis Meade, and now it's, it's the first domino and what should be a very busy deadline season here for the Boston Red Sox.

And as Jeff Passan said, uh, they are very active in trade talks, like they are having a bunch of different.

Conversations across the league and it definitely seems like a bat is something that they would really like.

And obviously, the names that we've seen mentioned with them, uh, Zach Netto with the Los Angeles Angels.

Um, he has been discussed with them and some other teams here as well.

Um, I don't know the likelihood on a possible Zach Netto trade, but I definitely would not rule it out by any means, uh, not just.

With the Red Sox, I was just talking in general there.

Um, but it seems like the Angels are definitely willing to discuss him.

Uh, CJ Abrams is a player that we talked about on Friday's show, and he is going to be mentioned with the Red Sox, he's gonna be mentioned with the Yankees, um, the Brewers, I mean, there's other teams, and from what I'm told, it's just widespread interest in a guy like CJ Abrams and Before the weekend, the Nationals had yet to really engage with teams as far as Abrahams goes.

Um, I have not gotten a good sense on if that's changed or not, uh, but we're gonna be hearing about his name plenty.

And, uh, something that I mentioned when I was on foul territory this morning is that, um, The Nationals did not go into conversations looking to move Curtis Meade or even a guy like MacKenzie Gore, but Paul Taboni has a policy where he listens on everything.

And if he gets blown away with an offer, then he'll pull the trigger on it.

It happened with Gore, it happened with Mead, and I wonder if the interest in Abrahams becomes so strong and so legitimate that it could possibly lead to a trade.

Again, my own speculation, we'll see.

Um.

But those two names are gonna be mentioned plenty.

I also think Jeremy Pena might be worthy of a shot as well, um, just as far as the trade market goes here because he's not, um, signed long term and his agent is Scott Boris, and obviously we know how Boris is.

He's very rarely, if ever, besides if your Cooper Pratt does early extensions and he's gonna want a guy like Pena to hit free agency.

So, he's got a year and a half years left on his contract.

We've seen teams like the Brewers do trades when guys are in this kind of window.

The Astros want to compete, like they are making it very clear that they are gonna be, they're gonna be buyers, but this could be an opportunity where Dana Brown could try to take advantage of that .

Again, I, I would imagine a Pena trade is very unlikely, but I thought he's worthy of a chance or worthy of a shot there for sure.

There are, uh, look, the price of Zach Netto continues to go up, you would think, and that's the reason why we see Darren Taylor in the comments saying Neto for Franklin Arias.

I mean, the Angels are gonna ask for that until they get to a point where they're no longer able to ask for that.

And the reason they're able to ask for that is because CJ Abrams, Zach Netto, the price is high with very few names, actually, Jeremy Pena, like, the Astros will dabble because Because they might look at the landscape and say, yeah, you know, I know we said no 100 times, but maybe we should say yes , 101st cause these packages are just so large.

Um, ultimately, when things settle down a little bit, uh, when the buzz dies down, do you think that the price is still gonna be, OK, Arias Ferneto or Neto's not moved?

Do you think it ever calms down or do you think it's still that sky-high as and if anyone's willing to pay it, then good.

If not, he stays and everyone else stays too.

Yeah, I don't know, that's a very high ask, but that being said, like these teams that are gonna be in like clear positions to sell, uh, they have every right to be asking for the moon here, and it's, it's going to be like adding at this deadline is gonna be very lucrative.

It seems like.

Um, the prices are going to be very high, and these sellers are really going to be able to take advantage of it.

And that's why I've, I've called on some of these different teams to, to entertain some different possibilities.

Obviously, the Giants with their stars, uh, the Mets with Luke Weaver, I mean, some other things here as well .

And we also have MLB deadline news asking, like, could this put Sandy Econtra back on the menu?

And I would be really surprised by that.

Um, it seems like they definitely want to keep Sandy Econtra.

If the Marlins do sell, I think the name to watch is gonna be Anthony Bender.

Uh, I wouldn't, I wouldn't look for a guy like Sandy Alcontra, uh, to be on the move here, but, um, everything that I've heard though is that the asking prices throughout the league are still very high.

It's possible that it could come down a little bit, but I'm telling you, this is a, obviously you want to compete, like that's, that's what every team's goal.

But if you're selling, you are going to be in a position to really end up stocking your farm system and be in a better position to compete going forward.

So, if you're the Giants, if you're, I mean, the, the Mets, if you're the Rockies or the Angels or any of these teams, um, that is, uh, you're in a really good spot here to potentially, um, really stockpile your farm.

So that's, that's at least what these teams have to look forward to here for sure.

The latest, and Robert gets texts, I get tweet updates.

The latest on Spencer Steer from C Trent Rosecrans.

He has a brace on his wrist and forearm.

The hope is that the injury heals on its own, he'll be re-evaluated in 2 weeks.

So more tough news for an outfield trade market, that is incredibly unclear at this point.

And I'll, I'll also say this too, is he is also going to be getting a second opinion on it.

Um, there was a fear that it was going to be way worse, uh, yesterday, and the initial MRI showed good news, uh, and they're gonna get something else to confirm.

But yeah, they are hoping that it heals in 2 weeks.

So that would be, um, a really Uh, or they, he's gonna get re-evaluated in 2 weeks is what I should say, but they're hoping that they dodged a bullet there, and if that's the case, that is a huge win for the Reds there for sure.

Only 1 week till the deadline though, it makes that calculus all the more complicated.

We have a ton of questions to get to, we're gonna get to as many of them as we can.

Uh, real quick on the Nationals, you know, we're talking Abrahams, we're talking offense.

Does getting a guy like Early who is still on the shelf make a Foster Griffin trade more or less likely or not really affect that whatsoever?

Yeah, that was my first, like question that I had after this trade is, OK, what does this mean for a guy like Foster Griffin?

I, I, my guess is he's probably going to get traded.

Um, I think the interest in him is gonna be very strong.

I know some people have questions about the underlying numbers there, uh, but teams are gonna want starters, specifically left-handed starters, cause obviously there's not overly too many of them, uh, at the major league level, uh, or quality ones, I should say.

And I think he's gonna be drawing a bunch of interest and it's gonna lead to a trade.

And now they have the depth to go out and do so.

Um.

And obviously, like there's been some speculation about a potential extension there.

Still have not heard any credible buzz to say that's like active or like in the works, so we'll we'll see there, but if anything, I'm leaning toward a Foster Griffin trade, and who knows, maybe, like, if they move him, he could come back in the offseason, but no, if he continues at this pace though, uh, to look, to look ahead here, he's gonna have a very good free agency, I think for sure.

Yeah, 1-year deal, one of the best lefties in baseball this year, you have to entertain it even with the lockout uncertainty.

Uh, a lot of questions to get to before we get to them, just have to take a temperature check on the two biggest names, almost just like cursory, we gotta do it every show till the deadline.

Tarek Scoble, that people are beating the drums again this week, Shohe Otani having a little trouble getting back on the mound.

I don't know if that changes the Dodgers' Tarek Scoble calculus at all, but Scoble, Mason Miller, these are the names, if we don't talk about them, I get tased.

How's it going in both of their markets right now.

Yeah, Mason Miller, same as always.

Uh, I'd be really surprised if he is on the move.

Uh, a guy like Terrek Scoble, on the other hand, I think considering their series this past weekend against the Kansas City Royals, uh, my feel is that the trade chances for involving Scoble have gone up.

Um, you have a that did not, like, it was a very winnable series against a bad Kansas City Royals team, and they did not show hardly anything worthy of being a contending franchise this season.

So, um, obviously, we have a week to go here, but as far as school goes, like, there's going to be just massive, massive interest here and, um.

The Dodgers, I think, are the, the top threat according to, to rival rival executives here, but I do think this is interesting is there is a story by Maddie Lee, and I think I've seen some other stories here from the, uh, the Dodgers beat writers there that cover the team on a daily basis, kind of throwing a little cold water on a school of pursuit.

Um, they were like talking about, um, how it's not like gonna be, I can't remember how exactly how she phrased it, but it was.

Um, like, it didn't make it seem like it was like the most pressing thing in the entire world for them, which I think is interesting, but at the end of the day, like the Dodgers are always involved in superstar players.

They have, um, a need, they have a desire, they have the prospect capital, whether it's, uh, on the Major league roster or whether it's prospects in the, in the, uh, in the farm system in the outfield.

There's a bunch of different ways they can go about this thing, and they can get the Tigers what they want.

So I still think they're definitely a threat here for sure.

Tampa Bay, I think is a team that should absolutely be watched.

Um, you have the Brewers, you have, although again, I still think they're unlikely, but there's gonna be a bunch of other teams.

I do wonder about Philadelphia, just cause I know how David Dombrowski loves his star players.

And specifically on the pitching side.

Um, so I wonder if that could be a fit there, especially since they need another starter.

But again, to , to, to wrap up what I was saying there, I do think a Mason Miller trade is very unlikely, but school, I think he's definitely worthy of watching here for sure.

Let's go catchers in the AL East first.

The first question that got in was I need money 16, saying with 3/5 of the AL East looking to add to the catching market, do you see Preller selling high on Luis Campusano, and that ties into plenty of questions we got after that about the Tampa Bay Rays.

Um, and, uh, there's a lot of, you know, people just wanna know Ray's Buzz, people were saying the Rays and Abrams, um, the catching market.

I mean, you're right, the Ali , the Red Sox, the Yankees, the Rays, they could all be in on catching, Campesano is an interesting alternative, given that Ryan Jeffers is there, Hunter Goodman, I'm not sure if he's there, also not sure Ryan Jeffers is there.

That team's a game out of a playoff spot.

Shay Langliers, that injury is gonna knock him out of the trade deadline pictures, now you've got Campusano, Tyler Stevenson, it makes it all the more.

Likely that maybe Preller does make this kind of move tempt the AL East.

What are you hearing on the catching market given Langgele is out and all the other names have significant question marks?

Yeah, you're, you're spot on, and it's, this is a really difficult catching market.

It's more, it's different in the fact because there's been a bunch of names linked in this catching market as opposed to years past when there's just been totally nothing.

Uh, Shay Anglelear with that injury that he's, he's not going anywhere.

Um, you have Adley Ruchman, I still think that one's pretty unlikely.

Hunter Goodman, kind of in the wait and see category now is where I would put that one.

And maybe if you're a team, uh, you can see him and try to, uh, obviously, he's known for his bat.

He's, he's arguably the best hitting catcher in ball at this point.

Um.

But you, you, you're gonna have to try to improve his defense there, and that's something that Ken Rosenthal and Will Salmon of the athletic wrote about today and talked to a bunch of people across the league.

So you wonder if a team acquires him, if they view him as a guy who can improve defensively.

Uh, but the other names here, Ryan Jeffers, I'm still not totally ruling it out because they also have Victor Carrattini, and you have the flexibility where you have a veteran guy behind Jeffers, so, I, I, again, I'm not gonna totally rule that one out there.

Tyler Stevenson is a player on an expiring contract.

He's gonna be drawing a bunch of interest here.

Uh, as I mentioned before, Carratini, um, I think Joey Bart could also be a guy.

Obviously, he's not gonna end up being somebody who is like a A true difference maker, but you have Sean Murphy who's gonna be coming back here in the not so distant future.

So you think that, OK, with the surplus of catchers in Atlanta, that Bark could be on the move there or potentially be on the move.

So there's gonna be a a bunch of different options here.

As far as Campusano goes, I have not heard anything like that, but I do know that the Padres in years past have really valued him.

Um, and he's finally actually like produced despite, uh, not doing so.

So as soon as he starts producing, I have a hard time seeing the Padres moving on from him, especially since the Padres have been looking for a catcher for quite some time.

So, um, yeah, I don't know.

I have a hard time seeing that one, but if Preerick goes out and gets a catcher.

Then who knows, maybe all bets are off there, but I, I cannot say I've heard Campusano trade buzz at all.

No disrespect to Joey Bart, but if the Yankees go from Langgoliers Goodman to Joey Bart, I will eat aluminum foil.

Um, OK, OK, we're putting that on the show here.

If, if that ends up happening, Adam is gonna eat aluminum foil on.

Turn on, yeah, turn on your notifications if you had beat writers you didn't have notifications on for.

Go ahead and put them on cause I do wanna hear from you if the Yankees do end up with Joey Bart and not an additional catch.

Aluminum foil will go in my mouth and get swallowed.

Um, we'll go, uh, hey, Joey Bart's former home, the Pirates, Nick Shear, 5378.

Will I, as a Pirates fan, based on what you're hearing, be satisfied come this time next week?

Now, Nick, we can't speak to your specifics.

I don't know what type of thing satisfies you, so, unfortunately, this question is unanswerable, just kidding.

But, uh, what do you think the Pirates will be up to as they fight for that final or maybe even 5th or 4th wild card spot?

Let me, let me preface with this.

If you can throw a baseball out of the bullpen, the Pittsburgh Pirates will be checking in on you.

It seems like they really would love to reinforce the bullpen and as they should, that's, I think that's been one of the more glaring things there in Pittsburgh.

So, I'll look for bullpen help.

I still think they could definitely use some help at catcher .

Uh, there's been nobody who's really kind of established themselves as the long-term answer there.

And perhaps you can find something on the market, um.

But yeah, at, at, at this point, I've predominantly heard them with the bullpen, and I, I also gotta give a credit to that front office there.

I think they've done, like, obviously it's been up and down in years past, but there's a clear vision with this team, whether it's pitching and then the leadership, the offense has been very good this season too, despite a lot of these guys being snubbed for the All-Star game.

Uh, they're moving in the right direction in Pittsburgh, and if they can add to the bullpen, whether it's one or two names, I think that should satisfy you and, and satisfy your appetite for the Pirates.

I really do, cause, um, I, I, I am adamant though that they cannot be surrendering these like these premium assets for any rental players.

This is, they to have, like, they, they want to compete for a postseason berth this year, but they have to have the long-term view there.

And you cannot be going and going all in for rentals and giving up some of these top guys.

And I've also seen, I've had plenty of people ask me about Seth Hernandez, by the way.

I don't know, like, it's been in the subtext, which, OK, I like plug here.

Uh, you can go on my Twitter account and you can find us on the subtext there.

I could not recommend more going in there cause you can, you literally have access to text me any questions that you guys have, and I'll be responding as quickly as I can.

I'll send you daily notes.

It's like, it's a really cool tool, a really cool tool.

So go in there, join, join us, and it's a, it's a really cool community and I could talk to you one on one.

But the, the questions that I've gotten about Seth Hernandez there.

I would be beyond, beyond, beyond stunned if the Pirates moved him.

Um, he is a guy you build around, because I just, I have visions of adding Seth Hernandez to that rotation in the future.

It's uh Yeah, it would be just beyond nasty.

So if I'm the Pirates, I do not move Seth Hernandez, but bullpen, that's what I'm watching.

I, I, I turned that into a very long-winded answer, so I apologize for that.

Well, I hope we satisfied, you know, Nick, the, uh, I don't know how satisfiable Nick Shearer is, but I hope that helped.

He seemed happy with the bullpen answer, all caps bullpen in there.

There we go, people are pumped.

Uh, look, we, we don't do this just to.

Make you happy, we do just give you information.

We hope to keep you happy in the subtext in the Discord and here on the live show.

Uh, a lot of people want, Flager wants to know about the Jays, multiple question marks after Jays.

I wanna know about the Jays too.

Uh, I'm thinking about George Springer.

I was thinking about him this weekend as he tortured the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

What's the latest on Toronto potentially having to tear down last year's American League champions?

Yeah, it's really disappointing.

No, no way of sugarcoating it there.

And like I think we all expected the Blue Jays to be a prominent name in the American League discussion, uh, not for the trade deadline, like as sellers, but I thought they'd be active as buyers and trying to get back to it.

And now it seems like.

They're a team that's pretty destined to sell, and Kevin Gosman is gonna be the name that's gonna be getting a bunch of smoke here.

Obviously, he's got the 18 no trade clause, and the White Sox are on that list, but I think that he would be a really nice fit for them and provide a really nice veteran aspect to that team.

Um, you also have the Atlanta Braves, who I think would be a great fit, but I feel very confident that he's gonna be drawing a bunch of interest here.

Uh, Dalton Varho for teams who are trying to prove defensively in the outfield, I think would be a really strong add, uh, who's also in the expiring year of his contract there.

Um, Jeff Hoffman, again, I am not going to be ruling out a trade involving him.

Uh, I think with him having a year and a half years of control left, uh, he's gonna be a name that is pretty, uh, he's gonna be asked about a good amount is what I would say.

Like, I know it's been up and down in Toronto and he had his moment last year in the World Series, but Um, he's a player that teams really like, and I wonder if a team like Philadelphia could try to, to explore that, but.

Uh, those guys, you have Shane Bieber, you have Max Scherzer, uh, Ross Atkins and that entire front office is going to be very busy, and I, I think if they do so, then a lot of those guys who are on expiring contracts are gonna go.

And I would also look at some of their other relievers as well, who are not like Louis Varland, uh, as possibilities to go here as well.

The comments telling me not to eat foil, Guess what?

I think I'm gonna do it.

No, I'm not gonna eat foil unless the Yankees get Joey Bart, that's the deal.

I'm not getting tased if Mason Miller gets traded.

I think there was a misinterpretation there, but kind of a fun one.

MLB Deadline News did wanna talk Angels and the amount of control John Mozalla could exert on this rebuild, how full could it get?

A lot of people wanted to talk, you know, we, we talked Neto, but we didn't talk Soriano and, and Dettmer in detail.

How deep do you think the Angels sell-off goes and what are they targeting in response?

Does Mosellak get to control this wide-ranging of a trade deadline?

Yeah, my, my understanding is that John Mosella has control and that he can do as he pleases, and that is a really good thing for the Angels organization.

And I, like, I don't want to speak for Angels fans, but I can speak for the crew in the Discord that we, that we have in there who are a bunch of loyal Angels fans in there.

They're really refreshed by the, the transparency and the communication that John Mozalla has, and uh I think he's been a really strong presence in that organization and he's also been somebody that They really needed.

And going into this deadline, which is crucial for them, you have Dettmer, you have Soriano, you have Neto, you have Joe Adele, some of these bullpen guys, um, I mean, obviously, Jorge Soler as well.

There's a bunch of different options and I I think he's got the green light to do whatever he would like, except I, Mike Trout's not going anywhere.

I think we can put that one to bed.

But everyone else, uh, I think they can be had for a certain price and considering this is a huge seller's market, they can end up getting something like really strong in return here.

So, um, yeah, I think this is a really good position for John Mozalla to be.

And there's obviously been a lot of questions and some reports about uh his status with the Angels, and all I can confidently say is, as Mosalla said yesterday, nothing's been determined yet.

Uh, but if this deadline goes how it could potentially go, then I think a lot of people are gonna be wanting him to stay.

So, um, but yeah, that being said, I really like the early results here for Mozalla.

I think he's done a really nice job and And what's a really difficult situation, going from outside the organization to then running their baseball operations department, like, a week or two before the draft and then a month before the deadline, that, that is almost an impossible situation and he's leaned on his guys and I think it's benefited him and the organization as a whole.

One quick question before we sign off cause I see Ryan trying to get this one in .

The Red Sox and Jan Durant still sort of up in the air, at least Boston fans.

I think that he potentially could be dealt after the deadline.

If the Red Sox trade Duran, doesn't mean Roman Anthony is certainly coming back.

I think it's still, there's a lot of TBD on the Anthony injury timeline, but are you hearing anything on Duran's movement and any Roman Anthony updates that you, you know, hearing behind the scenes?

Yeah, I, I, I can say, like, I have nothing on the Roman Anthony situation there, but I still maintain what I've said continuously on Jan Durant is, obviously, like, the Red Sox, they, they value him tremendously .

And other teams around the league like him too, but that being said, like, I, I don't think this, I don't think this is the time where he moved Jan Durant, and could I be wrong, totally, uh, but his value is not, uh, what it was even last year or the year before that, and I cannot see Breslow selling low on, on this asset considering how much they value him .

So I'm not, I'm not expecting a trade there and maybe they do trade somebody off the Major league roster, uh, but I don't think it's gonna be him.

I don't think it's gonna be.

Sonny Gray or Aroldis Chapman or Contreras or anything like that.

I, I, I'm not saying like, I have no insider like direct knowledge on them possibly trading someone off the Major League roster.

I want to clarify that, but um.

Yeah, again, I, I, I don't think Durant goes.

Plenty more to come.

We will catch you Wednesday at 3 p.m. Eastern here on the Baseball Insider to join us in the Discord or text Robert in the subtext between shows.

It's been a pleasure to get your questions in next time.

We'll be happy to address them.
