National League Contender Eyeing Cubs Outfielder Seiya Suzuki
As Philadelphia searches for outfield depth, Bob Nightengale reports the club is monitoring Seiya Suzuki. However, a potential deal hinges on Chicago's postseason positioning and Suzuki's no-trade clause.

What is up Cubs fans and welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi talking about all things Cubs.
And right now the Cubs are kind of in the middle right now, whether they're gonna be buyers, whether they're going to be sellers.
If they are buyers, they're gonna be looking to acquire a top-of-the-line starting pitcher and maybe some high quality bullpen arm.
That's what they need right now, and if they are buyers, that's w- who the Cubs are probably gonna be targeting at this year's trade deadline.
But there's also a chance that they are not buyers and they turn into sellers at this year's trade deadline.
If the Brewers continue to win and the Cubs continue to falter, things could change for the Cubs by the August 3rd trade deadline, and they could be sellers at this year's trade deadline.
And it appears teams are starting to do their due diligence on some Cubs players, and one National League contender is already eyeing Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki.
Bob Nightengale, MLB Insider, reported early on Sunday that the Philadelphia Phillies are desperately looking for some outfield help, and they have done their research and have Seiya Suzuki on their radar at this point in the season.
Now, it's so early that, you know, we shouldn't think anything of this, and there's a lot of obstacles that have to happen in order for the Cubs to actually trade away Suzuki.
The first one is that Suzuki would have to waive his full no-trade clause.
So Suzuki cannot be traded without his permission.
So if Suzuki says no, Cubs would not be trading him at all to the Phillies or any other team.
The second is that the Cubs are not gonna probably trade Suzuki if they're only a few games back of the wild card or only a few games back of the National League Central Division for first place.
Like, they're gonna have to really fall down the stands in order to trade away one of their key players in Seiya Suzuki.
They could decide to ride it out with him, but if they trade him, it's only gonna be because if they feel like they don't have a good enough team to make a deep postseason run.
It's gonna be tough with the Dodgers and the Brewers and the Braves playing as well as they have to start the season, but the Cubs aren't gonna just be getting rid of Suzuki.
If they are in a spot to make the playoffs, Suzuki will stay on the team and the Cubs will maybe be small buyers if they can add a pitcher or a reliever or something like that.
