The Oklahoma Sooners are ready for the 2026 season, and this won't be a team or a coach who is making excuses about the schedule that they were given.

I'm Justin Churchill of AZ Sports Oklahoma, and we've heard a lot of coaches over the last few years kind of whine and complain.

Not going to name any names, but some of them are rivals of the Sooners.

Brent Venables does not do that.

He does not go up to the podium and talk about how tough the schedule is and how it should be that it should help them get into the college football playoff.

No, none of that.

He doesn't whine about any of it.

In fact, he looks at it as an advantage.

He said at SC Media Days on Monday, he said, quote, every game is big.

You only get 12 opportunities each and every week.

You're not going to sneak up on anybody.

Nobody's going to look past Oklahoma.

We're going to bring out the best in everybody.

He knows that this schedule is one of the hardest in the country.

It's ranked second hardest in the country on ESPN FPI behind just Arkansas.

But that's something that he likes.

He wants that.

He wants his team to play the best so that they can be the best.

I don't understand why other coaches are not having this mentality.

It's all victimized mentality from all of these coaches.

It doesn't matter who you're playing.

Play the schedule that you were given.

You can't change the schedule.

Stop complaining about it.

You complaining and crying about it is not going to change it.

Brent understands that.

And we're starting to see this mentality with the entire team.

Like, is there another team in college football who mimics their head coach better than the Oklahoma Sooners?

I'm not sure there is.

This team is ready to play their schedule.

They don't care who's on it.

They're ready to line up.

You're 11.

Our 11.

Let's go.

They're ready.
