Packers' Malik Willis Slapped With Harsh Reality Check Before Free Agency
Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis has been hit with a tough reality check heading into NFL free agency.

So rumors recently surfaced that Packers quarterback Malik Willis could get upward of $30 million per year in free agency.
And that was a number that certainly raised a whole lot of eyebrows considering that Willis doesn't really have a whole lot of experience under center.
Now, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has kind of shut that down saying that Willis is more likely to land a deal similar to the one Justin Fields received from the Jets last offseason when he got a two-year $40 million contract.
Now, Willis could get more than that according to Fowler, and it's possible he can get upward of $25 million, especially with cap inflation.
But teams at the scouting combine apparently said they would be surprised if he got near the $30 million that some are projecting him to get once free agency opens next week.
Now, Willis made a grand total of three starts in Green Bay, and he played very, very well during that time.
But it's also important to remember that he was in Tennessee for two years before Green Bay as well, and he didn't do too well with the Titans when given the opportunity.
Now, also Tennessee wasn't exactly friendly to quarterbacks in recent years, so maybe we should just take that with a grain of salt.
But again, the sample size in Green Bay was very, very small.
And even though teams like Arizona, Miami, Cleveland, the Jets all need quarterbacks, some of them may be a little bit reluctant to go out and hand Willis a big-time contract.
Remember, the Jets definitely regret giving Fields that deal last year.
So I definitely think teams will be a little bit leery of what they give Willis on a long-term deal.
Although because there's so many quarterback needy teams right now, someone may get desperate and give him more than what people expect.
So we'll see what happens with Willis' free agency next week.
One thing we do know is that he'll definitely not be returning to Green Bay for 2026.
