Phillies Fans Won't Be Happy Over Latest Trade Deadline Report

Philadelphia Phillies fans won't be happy to hear this.

So everyone knows the Phillies need help offensively, and they've long been expected to make a deal for at least one bat before the MLB trade deadline.

But the deadline is now looming on Monday evening, and the Phillies have still not done anything to address the issue.

So will the Phillies be able to land an offensive threat before the 6 p.m.

Cutoff on Monday night?

It's looking less and less likely that will be able to happen, as Matt Gill of The Athletic has reported that Dave Dombrowski has actually turned his attention more to pitching before the deadline.

Now, the Phillies have expressed interest in some hitters like Luis Arias, Joe Adele, Taylor Ward, but for one reason or another, they aren't the best fits for Philadelphia.

Now, Arias is a great hitter, but he's a second baseman and does not want to move off that position, and that would require the Phillies to do some pretty serious shuffling defensively if they did land him.

They may not want to go down that route.

Now, they do have Brian De La Cruz, who has given a little bit of a spark lately.

Derek Hill's been solid since coming over from the White Sox, but for the most part, this lineup has not been good at all throughout the season.

Josh Schober, Bryce Harbour, and Brandon Marsh are the only three guys who hit well.

And I wouldn't say consistently because both Harbour and Marsh have been awful over the last month.

But the problem with the Phillies is that the pickings are pretty slim out there.

And again, they don't have a ton of prospect capital to actually make any significant moves.

So fans might end up being pretty disappointed by the end of the deadline when the Phillies don't acquire or say if they don't acquire another hitter.

But it is very possible they're going to focus on pitching, which they do need starting rotation depth for sure.

They need relief pitching as well.

So they may focus on those areas before Monday night.
