Raiders DC Rob Leonard Building Resilience & Confidence

Video Transcript

Going back to the young DBs you mentioned, helping them kind of get over a play that doesn't go their way with their first time in the preseason, I'm sure every play seems like a bigger magnitude because it's their first time playing in the NFL.

How have they responded to the coaching from you guys to make sure that they learn from the last play, but they don't dwell on it and continue to move forward?

Yeah , they've responded really well.

I think that's a collective effort from their teammates, from the position coach.

Um, You know, feeling the love and support as if anybody, any human being isn't having success at something of uplifting them within those moments.

Um, and I think it's been really good.

That starts with your culture.

You know, it reflects of when the teammate's down, how do you react?

Is he sitting there by himself in genuine care.

And love for that person based on how they're working and um.

It's been fun to see.

I certainly don't feel alone doing that and picking up these guys.

See, uh, I think, I think.

Tommy's a killer.

He, he takes it very seriously, very focused.

I love Tom for a million reasons.

I could go on and on.

I think Cody's one of the most improved players.

Um, just in terms of movement and efficiency from where he was last year and I think it really stood out in the spring.

I'm, I'm just proud, I'm really proud of Cody of all the works he, he's put in.

It means.

The world to those guys.

Those guys do everything they could possibly do.

So just, um, very proud of those guys and want to see them as a success as much as they want.

Coach, if you, uh, Georgia Bulldogs on your side of the ball, what's one quality that that those guys bring to the defense?

Confidence.

Confidence, a little bit of swagger.

You know?

Just true essence of football.

They, they, they see, they see things for what, what it is.

These things for what they are.

What are what are conversations like with you and Clint, uh, going into this final week in terms of roster construction and being like this guy can help me here, but we wanna, you know, bring in guys that can help the entire team kind of keeping guys on defense compared to, you know, pull the stake, uh, roster construction very direct and honest the way you just articulated it just a normal conversation.

Talking about the competition and the plus and minuses.

Different scenarios.
