Would you say Ashton has matured as a leader?
Absolutely.
Like I, I, that was one of my first challenges to him, um, when I first got here was just saying, hey man, how can we pick up and make sure that first you.
And then the group, more importantly, and then spread that to the rest of the offense and the rest of the team, and he's been doing a great job of that, man, every single day of just trying to be a leader but trying to be his self, you know, with, with him being a leader and not trying to do, um, things that's not him, so it's not inauthentic, right?
He wants to be an authentic self, be his authentic self, um, and he's doing a really good job of that and he's leading us the right way and he's got our group going in the right direction.
I really like, I like and love how he's attacking that part of it.
Uh, coach, he had, he had, uh, 5 receiving touchdowns last year.
That's what that is.
Uh, how do you plan on utilizing him in the, uh, passing game?
Um, I think like we, like we talked about earlier, I mean, the more that we can do, the, the better it's gonna be.
He goes out there every single day in special teams period, and he's working on, on routes and trying to get better, and I know he talked about that as being one of his goals in the offseason to go attack that process, um, of being a better route runner, um, and you've seen.
That show up here, right?
Like he already has some stuff and that dude has really good hands and good stick ems.
And so when you talk about the patience and understanding defenses now and how to set things up, I think that's really cool to see it just come to the, come to the field and how it plays all out.
Last one, what message would you like to share to Raider Nation regarding that?
Uh, you know, the thing I, I really want to share is that you, you're gonna get a group that's gonna be hard-nosed and we're gonna work our tails off, um, and everything that we got when we step on that field, we're gonna give it to you.
Um, we're gonna go as hard as we can for as long as we can, and, and, and, and that right then in itself like that to me is Raider way when I think of the Raiders like I'm.
Just thinking the guys that are gritty and grind and, and just willing to do anything for not just themselves but the logo, right, and the brothers and, and that's what we're going to be about.
We're gonna be great teammates, um, and , and so hopefully at the end of the day and at the end of the season that would have come through and as a result, our offense is a better product.
