There, there might be some people that would, uh, disagree with that, but, uh, no, uh, for real, um, I think, uh, the, the, the way that we get it across to our players is we call it one down.
Coach, I'd like to ask you specifically about your attention to detail.
It's, it's, uh, I mean this as a compliment.
You're a perfectionist.
Would you talk about how that parlays into getting that into your players, sir?
Yeah, uh, I appreciate you saying that.
Um, there, there might be some people that would, uh, disagree with that, but, uh, no, uh, for real, um, I think, uh, the, the, the way that we get it across to our players is we call it one down, right?
In the kicking game, you really only have 1 down to get it right.
You can see the 4th down, which obviously bad things can happen if you don't execute.
And then on kickoff or kickoff return, you have one play.
There is no 2nd or 3rd down to get it right.
So, you know, we try to get that across to our guys as much as we can and then, you know, just as far as all the drills and all the setup and all that stuff, I've got an unbelievable assistant.
His name is Tim McConnell and then Marquis Williams, you know, they're the ones that get me organized.
So they're, they're really at, at, uh, they should be commended also because, you know, that's what we want.
We want to make sure that that time is of the essence and it's, and it's really well organized.
And that's hopefully what's gonna happen.
What have you seen from Dante that has truly impressed you so far this season?
Well, uh, you know, he did a good job of working in the offseason after we left here.
Uh, he worked with a couple of guys down in San Diego, and you can see a little bit more power in his kicks, um, but he's done a good job so far.
Uh, you know, we haven't had a lot, a lot of live kicks today.
We thought we're gonna get more in that 2 minutes, but we only had the one.
So, uh, I'm, I'm pleased with where he's at, but he's got a lot of work to do left.
When you have a veteran and a rookie battling, how much is just camp and how much is it also the veterans got the experience?
Well, yeah, it's, you got experience, but I mean, it's, it's a, it's a position battle, right?
I mean, we're competing.
It's everybody out here, they're competing.
Yeah, there's some, there's some spots where, you know, guys are gonna be for sure, but, um, we want to have competition all the way throughout this team.
That's how coach, uh, got it started and, and that's how we want to get this thing going.
