Rico Dowdle Hopes to Bring Versatility to Steelers
Rico Dowdle promises a versatile skill set to bolster the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense.

One of the reasons Kenneth Gainwell was the Pittsburgh Steelers team MVP last season in his only year with the team was his versatility.
Gainwell caught seventy-three passes, rushed for five hundred and thirty-seven yards, and helped on special teams.
Rico Dowdle will now try to replace Gainwell after Gainwell left for Tampa Bay as a free agent, and Dowdle signed a two-year, twelve point two-five million dollar contract with the Steelers after spending last season with the Carolina Panthers.
Dowdle's a little bit different player than Gainwell, but he also says he wants to be versatile for the Steelers.
Dowdle's had over a thousand yards rushing each of the last two years with the Cowboys in '24 and then the Panthers in '25.
He's also had thirty-nine catches each of the last two seasons, which is a, a fair number for a running back, but certainly not the kind of reception numbers Gainwell put up last season.
However, Dowdle is, is n- undoubtedly a better rusher and more durable than Gainwell, and that's what the Steelers are looking for in a replacement, especially new coach Mike McCarthy, who had Dowdle for five years in, in Dallas, so he's very familiar with him.
