Ronda Rousey required to undergo concussion, neurological tests for return fight

Ronda Rousey said concussions ended her MMA career, a disclosure that frames scrutiny of her newly announced bout with Gina Carano. Most Valuable Promotions scheduled the five-round featherweight fight for May 16 in Los Angeles, marking Netflix’s MMA debut. California State Athletic Commission director Andy Foster said both fighters must pass extensive medical and neurological tests, and the commission did not consider denying the event. Rousey revealed she hid head injuries to keep competing and could not discuss them during her UFC and WWE tenures. She has not fought since losing to Amanda Nunes in December 2016. She discussed the history during an Instagram Live promoting her book, Our Fight.
