Bears fans know good and well that Caleb Williams is a matchup nightmare.
Just when you think you've got him b- wrapped up in the backfield, he can get out of that situation with his legs, and he also has the arm talent to get the ball pretty much anywhere on the football field, as we saw time and time again during just his second year in the NFL.
A couple of plays that come to mind were his throws in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams.
He had an insane throw to Rome Odunze on fourth down against the Packers, where it looked like he was going to be sacked as he rolled out to his, to the side and was able to complete a pass to Odunze to keep the chains moving as the Bears went on to win that game thirty-one twenty-seven.
Then in the next round against the Rams, he had that touchdown pass to Cole Kmet.
After, multiple Rams pass rushers were about to sack him, he threw up a Hail Mary, and it was perfectly placed to Kmet.
It looked like it was improvised, but in reality Williams knew exactly what he was doing.
Those are both, very dan-- just a couple of parts of, Williams' game that make him very special and, it has even caught the attention of some former NFL quarterbacks in David and Derek Carr.
Both of the Carr brothers played in the NFL, for multiple years but, never at the same time.
David played, before Derek did, playing for the Houston Texans and New York Giants as some of his teams that he spent time with.
And then Derek, played for the Raiders while they were in Oakland and even Las Vegas.
Then he spent the last two years of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints in twenty twenty-three and twenty twenty-four.
Both the Carrs broke down some film of Williams on a recent ep-episode of their podcast, Homegrown with David and Derek Carr.
For Derek, what makes Williams, very scary isn't the fact that he can, get out of, scary situations with his legs or the, insane arm talent.
It's that, he believes Williams doesn't really have a, a ceiling set yet, and that the sky is the limit for him.
We saw the leaps that, Williams took in just the first year of this Ben Johnson offense as he became the single season record holder for passing yards in a season for the Bears and, we saw multiple times how he engineered fourth quarter comebacks and he did not fold once under pressure.
He will now be entering the second year of this Ben Johnson offense and his third in the NFL and Bears fans should be very excited for what the twenty twenty-six season holds for this very impressive player.
