Seattle Mariners 'New' Lineup Falls Flat in 8-0 Loss to Detroit Tigers
The Mariners were unable to come out of the trade deadline strong and dropped the first of a three-game series to the Tigers.

A tough one tonight.
You know, I thought Emerson, you know, th- threw the ball well tonight.
You know, I think gave us a chance to win.
You know, I, I think, you know, a, a tough play there by Cole.
He makes that play nine times out of 10, and just like, see, looks like he just kind of pulled it up the line today.
And, you know, kind of opened the door there for that big inning in the third, and, and, they were able to get that, you know, that fourth run.
But, you know, I thought for the most part he, he threw the ball well.
He, he, he executed the game plan that he wanted to execute and, and, you know, gave us a chance to get in there late.
Offensively, just, you know, not a lot going on melting tonight.
You know, he's, he's had success this season.
You know, I thought, you know, he, he gave us a steady mix like, like we knew, and, and, he used that cutter, I thought, very effectively.
Just kinda, didn't allow a lot of solid contact.
You know, it wasn't a lot of, it wasn't a lot of strikeouts.
We, we did draw a couple walks.
We did have, you know, a little bit of traffic here and there, but, nothing sustained and, and nothing consistent.
And, and, he just kept us off the barrel all night long.
And, you know, a, a tough one tonight.
We, we gotta come back tomorrow and, and, you know, like we did against Minnesota, we gotta, we, we gotta get the, you know, the series and, and, starts tomorrow.
