Shackell dominates 200m butterfly in Indy on Day 2
Alex Shackell made it look easy as she cruised to the seventh-fastest women's 200m butterfly time in the world this year at the TYR Pro Swim Series event in Indianapolis.

Won gold in the 200 fly at the World University Games last summer in Germany.
What a great feel.
Three, four, five, and six all right there in the middle of the pool.
The last 18 months, all four of those swimmers have ranked in the top 10 in the world at some point or another.
So you're looking at the nucleus of this American women's team for years to come, outside of course Regan Smith, who is the top dog of course in that 200 butterfly.
The Olympic bron- or silver medalist is not here, but everybody else is.
Good surge there from Shackle to go ahead of Alex Walsh there in lane seven.
De Revo again, that phenomenal 16-year-old holding down third spot at this juncture.
Hard to believe Shackle is now 19 years of age.
Just a youngster when she made that team along with her brother back in 2024.

We'll see Alex in the first race of the night and Aaron in the last race of the night, coming up in the 400 free for the men.

Shackle still looking strong, building that lead up over a second at the 150 mark, and trying to bring it home efficiently.
De Revo gonna get up there and hold onto second, but nobody catching Alex Shackle.
2:07.37 seconds the winning time.
Takes the victory by over a second against the 16-year-old De Revo, and Tess Halley runs third.
Well, throw another American in there as the top performer of the year.
Top 10 performance, now the eighth fastest swimmer in the world.
She was sixth in the world last year, but had not been ranked up until that swim right there.
And it never really was close.
I thought De Revo looked good in getting second.
Here's the halfway point r- right there.
About three quarters of a body length, and then you stay underwater with her, that beautiful lunge right there to the surface.
That's the 15 meter mark.
She's almost about 12 meters down the pool.
Again, Jason, when you look at her stroke, everything is in sync.
And, and butterfly is such a, a tempo oriented stroke.
You wanna maintain that rhythm all the way throughout the race, and she did just that.
Really great undulation there, finishing strong.
Overall, great race.
And again, seventh fastest time in the world this year.

What were you happiest with in that swim?
honestly, just like my perseverance throughout the whole season.
Like, had a lot of up and downs, so to be able to hit 2:07 again and be close to my best time's just good, good feeling.
I checked with you, we said we can call this one of your home pools.
What is it about the IU Natatorium that allows you to swim your best?
I mean, I'm just really comfortable here, and only 25 minutes from home is really nice.
So, so I go back home in between prelims and finals and just sleep in my own bed.
So that's really nice.
And I don't know, this is like one of the best pools in the whole country, in the whole world, so, so.
