Simms' 2026 QB Countdown: Jordan Love
Chris Simms and Connor Rogers break down the game of Jordan Love, who lands at No. 15 on the 2026 quarterback countdown.

Number 15, a guy that it's not the same as Bo Nix 'cause they're very different- Yeah but opinions vary- Yeah just as much as Bo Nix.
Yeah.
That's Jordan Love on the Packers.
Jordan Love, yeah.
It's, it I, I love a lot of things about Jordan Love's game.
But where I would say is just that it's a consistency, but it's a different consistency with Bo Nix.
One, you know, hey, he's a great deep ball thrower.
He really is.
And that's what they do on their offense.
But at the same time, you know, like I just said with Bo Nix, just because you call deep throws, you gotta protect the coach sometimes and go, "You don't just throw it deep for throwing it deep purposes."
You know, you call a play that's aggressive down the field, okay, it's not there, let's get the underneath completion and be in second and six or second and five.
There's too much just, "Wait, I'm , I, I'm gonna sit back- Yeah and I'm gonna pat it one more time.
Woo, I threw it.
I hope Jayden Reed or Watson come down with it."
There's just a little too much of that.
There's too many yards left on the field in Green Bay, right?
And I know his numbers and stats look better than his play was.
But again, if you go back and watch the season, you're gonna see tons of inconsistency through the year.
Right With their offense and with him, where you go, "Oh, wait, they looked amazing this week."
Then the next week it's like they can't move the ball.
Or like the Denver game, I watched that back yesterday a little bit.
Great through th- the first two and a half quarters, then they can't get a first down- Against the skins, yeah in the fourth quarter and third, third quarter.
And some of that is, yes, I think still something you've heard me say about Jordan Love, right?
Bo Nix showed the ability at times to be more surgical than Jordan Love.
Jordan Love can just There's too many plays and moments where yards are left on the field because of errant throws or being too aggressive of a decision-maker.
His mechanics can be all over the place, and him leaning on the back foot and all that.
I love his talent and his arm talent, but man, every game, completions or incompletions, you see balls that are off target, and that to me is something he's gotta get cleaned up.
It's something we talked about a lot during the season, that surgicality element.
I know he can make big plays.
It's the, hey, like, I know you got the guy running down the middle in the post, but this isn't the play for that.
You got Jayden Reed running an under route for seven yards, let's let him hit him, let him run and catch the ball.
And that's some of the- where they miss with Jordan Love.
And then the other one negative thing I would say, for 2026, he's a below average runner for the modern day NFL.
Definitely.
Right?
Doesn't make many throws that are big time outside the pocket, and of course he's not gonna be a guy that scrambles and makes a lot of big plays with his legs running the ball either.
So since he's been a starter- Yeah the 2024 rankings, 'cause that was after the- Yeah really big breakout- Yeah.
Well, he start- the end of the year he was on fire- Right and I was like, "Uh-oh, watch out, here he goes."
That year you had him 13th.
Yeah.
Last year you had him 14th.
Yeah.
This year you have him 15th.
Is it fair- It's funny to say it's a little disappointing he hasn't cracked the top 12 yet?
I, I, yeah.
I- 'Cause my thought always is if you have a top 12 quarterback- Mm-hmm you should in theory be a Super Bowl contender without being like, "Well, we can't win 'cause of the quarterback."
Yeah.
Like, it's something else on your team that's holding you back- Right if you have a top 12 quarterback in the league.
Jordan Love is good.
He's 15th on this list.
He's been in the top 15 now three years in a row.
Yeah.
But it felt like after 2023 we were like, "Jordan Love could be great."
Yeah.
And he's still not great.
No.
He's j- he's good.
He's good.
He's real good.
He has still the potential to be great, I will say that.
I, I do think he does have that in him.
Injuries have derailed him.
I think he is a guy that needs to be practicing in the rhythm and play a little bit.
You know?
So I don't think there's any doubt about that.
And again, I, I'll sit here and tell you, you know, like we talked about yesterday, when Malik Willis came in the game, there was a lot of times where you're going, "Well, I don't know if they don't look better with Malik Willis.
I don't know.
I know they've given him $55 million a year," right?
"But I don't know about that."
And I think, yeah.
But I will say I think there's other things too.
Again, you know, Micah Parsons getting hurt hurt them last year.
Sure.
Right?
They didn't run the ball great last year, just to defend him here a little bit.
O-line had a few injuries, and let's, let's Christian Watson was hurt.
The, the Matthew Golden didn't show to be a top 25 or 6 pick, whatever he was there in the first round.
That didn't show up.
Jayden Reed was hurt.
And we talked about Tucker Kraft two weeks ago.
I mean, Tucker Kraft was about to be in the conversation for the best tight end in football- Without a doubt then he got hurt.
So those things I do will say between his injuries and some of those things right there, yeah, led to, you know, not helping Jordan Love.
But I still think with Jordan Love, yes, there can be more precision on the short to intermediate passes.
That is missed at times.
There's too much hanging on the back leg and the ball being off target, and he's too talented to do that, where he just leans back and slings it.
It's a great thing he has, but it's also like the gift and the curse.
He makes a lot of great throws with people in his face, and because he can s- stay on that back leg and do it, but he uses it as a safety net at times.
Sure.
And therefore the ball might float, or it doesn't have the same pace it needs to have.
And those are, to me, some of the issues and why they're just a little inconsistent on that side of the ball.
Plenty of change for the Packers offense this off-season.
Yeah.
Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks both out the door at wide receiver.
Rasheed Walker left in free agency.
Elton Jenkins left as well.
And some not so great news this week as Josh Jacobs, was arrested Tuesday.
He was booked into Brown County Jail on five charges that are related to an alleged domestic violence incident over the weekend.
Yeah.
We will see where that one goes, but that's- Yeah, that's tough that's v- And you lost your Emmanuel Wilson, the backup running back- He went to Seattle to Seattle, right?
And now you go, "Wait, we like Marshawn Lloyd, but he hasn't been able to be healthy."
He wasn't healthy in college even.
Right.
Yeah.
So that one like- So that's a- be careful what you- That's a thing.
Yes.
Yeah, that's the thing.
'Cause they, they like him.
I know that.
They, they think- Right he's got a chance to be something, but he can't stay on the field.
And yeah, it's big in a year where, wait, Micah Parsons probably won't be himself or not even playing early in the year, you know?
You wanna get, you know, the Jordan Love back on track and playing efficient.
We know the run game is important to that.
They know how to run the football.
It's, it's just gonna be a it's a bad look for Josh Jacobs and the Packers.
I'm not gonna judge it too- Right you know, harshly yet.
We're gonna let it play out.

Of course.
You know, like I said before today, you know, being on a team, you know, w- with, with love and significant others, sometimes a lot of crazy things happen in arguments.
I've seen these kinds of incidents where it's like, man, the player was wrong.
There's no doubt he deserves to get in trouble.
I've also said I've seen these type of incidents where I've got, ah, no, the player wasn't really wrong.
She pulled the okie doke on him, and, you know, because he's a big strong man, the cops just put the blame on him right away, right?
Yeah.
So we don't know.
We don't know.
So I'm not gonna judge it.
but yeah, this is a tough one for the Packers, and it's of course a big year for them right now.
