The SEC preseason poll is out.
It dropped on Friday at the end of SEC Media Days, and it confirmed one thing about Tennessee football in 2026, and that is that nobody outside of Knoxville is paying much attention to the Vols, as SEC Media voted that Tennessee will finish eighth in the Southeastern Conference in 2026, right there in the middle of the pack.
One spot behind Oklahoma at seven, and only one spot ahead of Florida, who's going into year one of the John Sumrall era.
Now, when you look at the preseason All-SEC teams, you get to the third team on offense or defense before you start to see names from Tennessee's roster.
DeShawn Bishop, Ariyon Carter, David Sanders, and Wendell Moew make the preseason All-SEC third team, but none on the first or second team.
And look, this shouldn't be a huge surprise.
Tennessee is a talented but unproven roster heading into 2026, especially at a key area like quarterback, with George McIntyre and Faizon Brandon battling it out for the starting job.
So the Vols are underrated heading into 2026.
