It's Time For The Cubs To Move On From Caleb Thielbar
With injured arms returning to the bullpen, Chicago must face a harsh reality: their veteran southpaw's plummeting metrics and inflated ERA make him the primary roster casualty.

What is up, Cubs fans?
And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And reinforcements are on the way for the Cubs.
Edward Cabrera, Daniel Palencia, and Hobie Milner should all be back very soon from their respective injuries.
Cabrera and Palencia have a mid-August timeline, while Milner could be activated here within the next few days.
And with those three pitchers expected to come back very soon, that means the Cubs have to make some moves to clear up roster spots for them, and one move the Cubs should make is designating Caleb Thielbar for assignment.
Last year, Thielbar was lights out on the mound for the Cubs.
He was really good against lefties, really good overall, threw three scoreless innings in the postseason.
Like, Thielbar was really good for the Cubs last year, showed no signs of decline at such a high age.
But this year has been a completely different story for Thielbar.
He has really struggled for most of the year, and he now has a 5.3 ERA at this point in the season.
He has been really bad as of late.
He has an 8.18 ERA over his last 14 appearances and, and has allowed a run in three of his last five bullpen appearances.
So obviously, not great from Thielbar.
And just this week alone, Thielbar, two separate games allowing some runs.
Not great from Thielbar.
Allowed four runs against the Dodgers earlier this week.
Cubs almost blew that game 'cause of Thielbar.
And then on Friday night, Thielbar gave up another couple of runs to the Royals.
Only got one out, left that game.
Thielbar obviously not looking great.
His metrics are down across the board.
I think it's time that the Cubs do move on from Thielbar because he just doesn't have it this year.
Expected metrics don't look great.
His numbers don't look great.
He's allowing a lot of hard contact through the air.
Home run ball continues to be a problem for him as well.
So when these pitchers come back, when the Cabrera, Palencia, Milner come back, one of the moves, corresponding moves for one of those pitchers should be designating Thielbar for assignment.
