What is up Cubs fans and welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi talking about all things Cubs and the Cubs just cannot stay healthy this year.
It feels like every day this week the Cubs have placed someone on the injury list.
On Wednesday, it was Ben Brown and Edward Cabrera.
On Friday, it was Phil Matten.
And on Saturday, it was Hobie Milner.
The Cubs now have 12 pitchers on the injury list at this point in the season.
Eight pitchers on their current roster weren't even on the roster on opening day.
These pitchers have come from the minors via trade and by claiming pitchers off waivers.
So it has been a really tough season for the Cubs with injuries and 12 pitchers on the injury list explains just that.
And some notable pitchers that are on the injury list are obviously guys like Kate Horan, who's out for the season with Tommy John surgery, Justin Steele, who has had a setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
He is not going to be pitching in any game and starting any games this season.
And it remains to be seen if he will come out of the bullpen later in the year.
Edward Cabrera and Ben Brown, as we mentioned, are on the injury list.
Jamison Tyon, left hamstring strain.
He's currently on the injury list, building back up and is making good progress and could start within the next few weeks.
But he's still on the injury list.
Their best reliever and closer, Daniel Palencia, is on the injury list.
And it just gets so long that we're talking about players like Riley Martin is on the injury list with a left flexor strain.
He had an eight-week timeline back in late April, and we haven't heard much about his recovery and when he might return.
So it's been a rough year for the Cubs in terms of injuries, and it doesn't seem to get better.
And, you know, the Cubs are having to throw guys out like Tyler Ferguson, Bryce Wilson, and so on and so forth.
So it's been a tough year for Cubs injuries.
But let me know what you guys think about the Cubs and all these injuries.
And as always, guys, go Cubs, go.
