Tony, 16 under 500 is, is a new low.
there's been a lot of lows this season.
Is this about as low as the team has been, getting nearly no hit like you were?
yeah, I mean, you certainly like Ramos' effort in the ninth inning, but kind of just focused on today, it was, it was a low point with a couple defensive plays and not finishing the game the way we need to on the mound, and then obviously not having much to show offensively.
What in particular was Cis doing that was giving you guys so much trouble?
well, I mean, just to start, his deception and great stuff and a deflating first inning.
And then, people that have seen him up close and personal, on the field, it was, it was going pretty good for him today on top of that.
on the flip side, Logan didn't actually There wasn't a lot of hard contact off him except for obviously the home run in that inning.
How do you evaluate that inning as a whole for him?
Yeah, even the, you know, the home run, I mean, he's really strong, but it looked, looked based off the swing like he was just trying to hit a sac fly, and he hit it to the exact part of the park, for, to get the result that he wanted.
But yeah, I mean, you'd like to undo.
Any time something doesn't go well, you'd like to go back in time.
You can't.
But, a pitch thrown to Clement there, 0-2, couple different defensive plays potentially.
and then like you said, not a lot of hard contact, but once it, once you got runners or you got traffic on base and you do get something happen like Okamoto did, then now you got, you know, a big inning and it ends up kind of being a deflating inning.
when Ramos, I mean, he gets your first hit, is the, do you even celebrate?
Like, what's the reaction?
not personally, but in the dugout, I mean, at that point you're looking for any positives.
But, not a, not something you want to be a part of the wrong side of history.
And with Logan, obviously this is two in a row for him, but a little bit different both times.
Do you see them correlated, these two starts?
No, I thought he was really good today.
I know that's difficult to say.
I hate it.
That was my first thought coming back into the, into my locker, was I just hate it for him, 'cause I don't, I don't think the line score does it justice.
And, you know, he was determined to go back out there, finish the seventh inning.
does it after, you know, a little bit of adversity there on a, what was kind of a tough play there.
but yeah, if you could somehow kind of again go back in time and remove some of that stuff, everybody got what they showed up for.
See those two guys go at it, and, they're two of the better ones in the league at their craft.
And I, I, I thought today was Again, it's hard to say.
I get it.
I see the five on there, but it was a good day.
How do you plan to use Ryan Walker going forward given how much he struggled?
we'll see.
you know, he's obviously not in a huge leverage situation there in the ninth inning, so we'll, we'll have a conversation after today's, after everybody's out of here today.
What happened with Jenna Cox?
We got the news about maybe 20 minutes before the game, 30 minutes.
The only thing I can attribute it to is maybe a little bit of an oblique strain, but not on any one big thing.
So the only thing I can really attribute it to is was there something linger- lingering there before?
and then the other thing is he's, the guys love him.
He's about as hard a worker as you're gonna get.
Maybe a sprinkle in the fact he's extremely quick twitch, so maybe things are, y- you know, wound a little tighter than the average Joe.
It looked like Willie was wincing a little bit after that ground ball out.
Is, is he doing okay with the back?
Yeah, I think he's doing good.
talked to a couple of y'all.
Just looking into every swing and play since he's come back.
there's something there that's, you know, maybe after the All-Star break you can feel good about saying, a- a- and obviously that'll be how his body feels.
You can feel good about saying he's all there, but, you know, there's something there.
He's battling a little bit.
We, we've heard from different pitchers about, they don't feel so bad about an outing because there was a lot of weak contact and, you know, it was stated that there was some early today.
D- does that matter?
Is that a thing?
Is there a consolation- I mean, if you're just talking about a season on the whole or your career on the whole, you wanna, you wanna play the percentages.
And if there is contact, it means you're throwing strikes, and if guys aren't teeing off on you or getting big swings, you'd like to think with defense behind you, over the course of time it's gonna work out in your favor.
Face guys in this league where you get enough reps, things happen.
you know, and maybe some of those times are with two strikes and you wish you made a better pitch, but, it's feedback.
All feedback is, is either positive or negative.
I think for the most part it's, it's gonna end up being positive.
On a particular day, like today or yesterday, which is why I think you asked the question, it's, it's obviously more negative than positive.
